The Clinical Business Associate is responsible for developing the market and driving adoption of an innovative clinical diagnostic test across the assigned territory. This position works directly with physicians, advanced practice providers, clinical staff, and practice leaders to introduce the test, educate healthcare professionals on its clinical value, and help practices incorporate testing into their patient-care workflows.
The position will focus primarily on building awareness, developing new business, and growing utilization of the designated diagnostic test, while also identifying opportunities to promote additional clinical laboratory and diagnostic products and services.
The ideal candidate is an energetic, driven, and relationship-focused sales professional who enjoys building a territory, opening new accounts, educating healthcare providers, and seeing the direct impact of their work.
Success in this role requires the ability to independently develop a market, build trust with healthcare professionals, manage a sales pipeline, and consistently pursue growth opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Market Development & Sales
- Develop and execute a territory strategy to build the market and increase adoption of the designated innovative diagnostic test throughout Illinois.
- Identify, prospect, and develop new physician practices and healthcare organizations that may benefit from the diagnostic test.
- Build and maintain relationships with physicians, advanced practice providers, clinical staff, and practice decision-makers.
- Conduct in-person meetings, presentations, lunches, and educational discussions with healthcare practices.
- Develop relationships with key specialties, including primary care, endocrinology, obesity medicine, gastroenterology, and other metabolic-health-focused practices.
- Educate healthcare providers on the clinical value and appropriate use of the diagnostic test.
- Manage prospects, opportunities, activities, and follow-up through the CRM system.
- Grow testing volume within existing accounts while continuing to identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Meet established sales, territory development, and testing-volume goals.
- Identify opportunities to expand adoption of additional clinical laboratory and diagnostic products and services.
Account Development & Clinical Education
- Introduce healthcare providers and clinical teams to the diagnostic test and its role in patient care.
- Translate clinical and technical information into clear, engaging conversations tailored to healthcare professionals.
- Help new accounts successfully implement and integrate testing into existing clinical workflows.
- Identify barriers to adoption and work with internal teams to develop practical solutions.
- Provide ongoing education and support to promote continued account utilization and growth.
- Build trusted, long-term relationships with healthcare providers and clinical teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Laboratory Operations, Client Services, and Sales teams to support account development and customer success.
- Communicate customer feedback, market trends, competitive information, and account needs to appropriate internal teams.
- Represent the organization at conferences, educational programs, industry meetings, and customer events as needed.
- Support product launches, educational initiatives, and other sales and marketing activities.

Requirements:Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Strong relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, clinical staff, and other healthcare professionals.
- Self-motivated and comfortable independently developing a territory, managing a sales pipeline, and pursuing new business opportunities.
- Strong organization, time-management, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to learn and communicate clinical and technical information effectively.
- Comfortable with initiating new relationships and working toward measurable sales and growth goals.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory, including occasional overnight travel.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
Hours & Travel:
- Full-time position with a field-based schedule, requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Primary territory is Illinois, with regular travel throughout the assigned territory.
- Frequent in-person visits to physician practices, healthcare organizations, and other customer locations.
- Schedule may vary based on customer availability and business needs.
- Occasional early-morning, evening, or overnight travel may be required for customer meetings, conferences, educational events, and other business activities.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The position may require extended periods of driving and travel, as well as time spent in healthcare facilities and customer locations.
