Job Description
Join a team supporting NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center by providing critical accounting, administrative, and operational support that helps keep mission-driven programs running efficiently and compliantly. This position plays an important role in supporting financial tracking, invoicing, purchasing, recordkeeping, and contract administration activities within a fast-paced federal services environment.
This position is contingent upon contract award with an anticipated start date of September 2026.
General Description
The Accounting Clerk provides accounting and administrative support for operational activities associated with environmental health and occupational health services supporting NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center. This position assists with invoice processing, expense tracking, purchasing support, document management, financial recordkeeping, and coordination of administrative functions in accordance with company procedures and federal contract requirements.
The role requires organization, close attention to detail, and the ability manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism in a government contracting environment.
How You Will Fulfill Your Mission
- Process invoices, purchase requests, receipts, and other accounting-related documentation.
- Assist with tracking project expenses, labor charges, and operational costs.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical financial records.
- Assist with timesheet tracking and administrative reporting activities.
- Support procurement and purchasing coordination for supplies and operational needs.
- Prepare spreadsheets, reports, and financial tracking logs using Microsoft Excel.
- Coordinate with program management, operations staff, subcontractors, and corporate departments.
- Assist with data entry and reconciliation activities within company financial systems.
- Ensure documentation accuracy and compliance with company procedures and contract requirements.
- Support audit preparation and records management activities.
- Provide general administrative and clerical support to the Armstrong program team.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
Specific knowledge/Certification Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two (2) years of accounting, bookkeeping, administrative, or office support experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Experience handling sensitive or confidential information professionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Experience supporting federal contracts, government programs, or NASA-related operations.
- Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint or similar accounting/ERP systems.
- Experience supporting project-based or contract-driven environments.
- Prior experience with invoice processing, purchasing coordination, or financial tracking.
- Experience supporting environmental, technical, or operational service programs.
