Job Description

Jamestown is a design-focused, vertically integrated real estate investment and management firm with a 40+ year track record and a mission to create places that inspire. Since formally launching the Jamestown Green sustainability program in 2012, the firm has embedded environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy across its global portfolio — and set a corporate goal to achieve net zero operational carbon by 2050.

The Sustainability Analyst will join a small, high-impact team responsible for executing that strategy across Jamestown's US portfolio. This is a broad role by design: the Analyst will be involved in all major workstreams, from portfolio-wide data collection and ESG reporting to certification management, investor communications, and property-level project coordination. This person will have direct visibility into firm-wide sustainability strategy and regular exposure to senior leadership across Asset and Property Management, Development & Construction, Investor Relations, etc.

We are looking for someone who is a critical thinker, exceptionally organized, able to work and communicate with individuals at various levels in the organization, and is confident owning things that can appear ambiguous. The ideal candidate is comfortable embracing opportunities to demonstrate leadership and ambition alongside their daily responsibilities supporting the administrative functions of the ESG team. While not a requirement, we are also looking for someone with either existing generative AI skills or openness to learning and leverage generative AI. You will see the full picture of how a sustainability program operates at a leading real estate firm, including the strategic decisions, the stakeholder dynamics, and the operational detail that makes it all work.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

ESG Data, Reporting, and Compliance

In partnership with our consultants, support Manager of Sustainability in managing the process to collect, maintain, and quality-check environmental performance data (energy, water, waste, GHG) across the US portfolio in coordination with property teams and third-party platforms such as Scaler and ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager

Support preparation of Jamestown's Annual Sustainability and Social Responsibility Report, including data compilation, fact-checking, drafting, and facilitating stakeholder and compliance reviews

Assist with the firm's annual GRESB and UNPRI submissions, including data and evidence gathering, scoring analysis, project management and post submission recapping/debriefing

Prepare ESG performance narratives and fund-level reporting materials in coordination with Asset Management and Investor Relations; maintaining a pulse on ESG initiatives and case studies across the portfolio for appropriate audiences

Own first-draft responses to ESG due diligence questionnaires from institutional investors, coordinating with the team and consultants for review and finalization

Maintain an internal pulse on emerging ESG regulations, building performance standards, and incentive programs relevant to US assets, while drawing on consultant inputs and independent research to prepare concise summary memos and recommendations that translate external influences into portfolio and property-specific initiatives for team review

Project & Process Management

Support Manager of Sustainability in maintaining and improving database(s) and tracking systems for portfolio-wide and property-specific sustainability initiatives, certifications, reporting deadlines, and data requests; serve as the team's coordinator of shared documentation, templates, and institutional knowledge so that processes are repeatable and not person-dependent

Support Manager of Sustainability and Director of Innovation & Sustainability in identifying opportunities to build AI-assisted workflows, automations, or templates that reduce manual effort on repeatable tasks; take ownership of building and maintaining those tools for the team

Support Manager of Sustainability as the coordination hub for the Sustainability team, managing day-to-day workflows, tracking open items and deliverables across internal workstreams and external consultants and vendors, and ensuring work is progressing on time and on scope; proactively surface blockers and keep the team moving forward
