Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The position of Staff Accountant will aid with the accounting function for Land Development business units at the Signorelli Company. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following: Preparing accurate and timely journal entries, reconciling monthly balance sheet accounts, preparation of monthly draw packages for development funding, assisting in the updating of financial reports, and the creation of monthly billings related to both external counterparties and affiliated entities.

Work Location: On-site – The Woodlands, Texas

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Initiate and prepare standard month end close entries (journal entries: cash, accruals, lot/loan closings, AP runs, loan advances/paydowns)
  • Performs general cost accounting for project reporting
  • Review monthly project development cashflows for cost to complete on active phases
  • Prepare monthly project draw funding packages to be submitted to lenders
  • Preparation of various account reconciliations within the prescribed timeframe established by the organization.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and other financial reporting as requested.
  • Update and maintain compliance obligations for land entities
  • Maintain banking access for entities across multiple banking institutions
  • Preparation and input of wire payments and transfers in multiple third-party banking systems
  • Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Assists in the filing of tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies, as requested.
  • Reconcile and pay property taxes
  • Assist in MUD audits by providing supporting documentation
  • Document job related procedures and adhere to internal controls

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field, required.

EXPERIENCE

  • Public accounting experience or exposure to land/homebuilding industry preferred.

  • Proficiency with an ERP accounting environment (NewStar/Landdev and Vena experience is a plus) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal and written communication.

  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
