Job Description
The Registrar acts as a central communication resource for academic and policy information related to student records management and is responsible for the maintenance and integrity of physical and electronic academic records.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Registrar responsibilities/duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Maintains student academic records; administers storage, security, accuracy, and preservation of academic files in accordance with company policy, accreditation standards and privacy laws.
- Interpret academic rules and regulations; monitor academic progress, coordinate student status (such as suspension, academic awards, etc.) Provides the data to the Director of Education with Reports.
- Manage grade and transcript processing; coordinates academic information for student graduation clearance.
- Evaluate transfer credit from outside institutions to determine transfer status.
- Compile statistical information and prepare reports.
- Respond to inquiries concerning academic performance and resolve problems regarding the management of student records with the input of the Director of Education.
- Assist with the implementation of academic policy and procedures.
- Comply with all Federal, State, accreditation and institutional policies and procedures.
- Post daily attendance, externship/clinical hours, and final grades.
- Perform any attendance or grade changes with appropriate documentation.
- Process all status changes (drops, graduates, LOAs, Re-Entries, Cancels etc.).
- Schedule and activate new students.
- Schedule degree and modular students on an ongoing basis for their future classes.
- Monitor and maintain seat availability for each program and session.
- Other duties in the Education Department as assigned.
- Follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the MEC Employment Handbook and Student Campus Catalog.

Requirements:Education:
- High school diploma required.
- Associates degree preferred.
Experience:
- 2-3 years of experience in office work.
- Experience with advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and web applications.
- Experience of working with student records and databases preferred.
Skills include, but are not limited to:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Must be a team player and work with a positive attitude on any task.
- Exercise good judgment regarding priorities and critical nature of certain job tasks.
- Must be discreet and must maintain confidentiality as appropriate.
- Good analytical and critical thinking skills; extremely detail oriented.
- Ability to meet deadlines and capable of handling stressful situations.
- Ability to complete tasks from start to finish.
- Ability to understand how individual tasks are interrelated and all impact the big picture and overall goals of the college.
