Job Description
The HR Generalist is a professional support role responsible for assisting with a broad range of human resources functions that support the workforce and overall business operations. This position works closely with the Director of Human Resources and company leadership to support recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, performance management support, payroll administration, benefits coordination, compliance, training support, drug testing program administration, and personnel documentation.
The HR Generalist helps ensure human resources processes are administered consistently, professionally, and in alignment with company policies, employment laws, and organizational standards. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, confidentiality, accountability, sound judgment, and a commitment to supporting employees and company culture.
This is a safety-sensitive position.
Core Responsibilities - Human Resources Administration- Support day-to-day HR operations and workforce support activities
- Maintain employee personnel records and HR documentation in accordance with company policies, retention standards, and legal requirements
- Assist with creation, updates, storage, retention, and destruction of HR records including I-9s, background checks, recruiting materials, interview documentation, disciplinary records, performance evaluations, payroll records, training records, medical files, benefit elections, handbook acknowledgements, and policy notifications
- Assist with onboarding, orientation, employee changes, and employee transition activities
- Support payroll administration and employee information updates
- Assist with benefits administration, enrollment support, employee communications, and related documentation
- Maintain confidentiality of employee, payroll, medical, and company information
- Support recruiting activities including job postings, applicant coordination, resume review support, interview scheduling, candidate communications, and selection documentation
- Assist with new hire onboarding and pre-employment processes including background checks, driving record checks, drug screening coordination, and employment eligibility documentation
- Help identify strong candidates who align with company needs, standards, and culture
- Help support workforce engagement, employee relations, and company culture initiatives
- Communicate professionally with employees, applicants, leadership, vendors, trade groups, and external partners
- Support and engage in trade and peer group activities that foster professional growth and company improvement
- Assist in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Stay current on legislative changes, HR best practices, SHRM guidance, and relevant industry standards
- Support administration of HR policies, procedures, employee communications, and workforce notifications
- Assist with compliance tracking, training coordination, and workforce development efforts
- Support the Safety Director with training periodicity, policy and procedure review, PPE coordination, documentation, and related HR support activities
- Support administration of the company drug testing program including frequency, policy, protocols, supplies, records, and follow-up actions
- Assist with audits, reporting, metrics, and documentation requests as needed
- Communicate professionally, respectfully, and courteously with employees, leadership, customers, vendors, and outside entities
- Assist with coordination of HR projects, process improvements, revised standards, tools, techniques, and creative solutions to workforce challenges
- Support positive employee relationships and timely resolution of workforce-related concerns
- Assist with scheduling, reporting, data gathering, and general administrative support activities
- Use analytical data and employee feedback to help identify trends, evaluate options, and support informed decisions
- Support company mission, vision, core values, and workforce engagement efforts
- Be prepared to provide seamless support during the absence of the Director of Human Resources as assigned
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, integrity, honesty, and accountability in all interactions
- Demonstrate reliability, discipline, strong work ethic, and sound judgment
- Communicate clearly, respectfully, and professionally in oral and written communication
- Maintain strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, reporting, and follow-up

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
- Familiarity with HRIS (ADP), LMS, ACUMAX, social media recruiting tools, and other web-based systems preferred
- Previous human resources, supervisory, teaching, coaching, labor relations, or workforce support experience preferred
- SHRM certification or similar professional certification desired but not required
Full-time position.
Work hours: Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, generally 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, averaging approximately 40 to 45 hours weekly based on workload, business demands, and coordination with the HR Director. The HR Generalist is a full-time salaried position and is not eligible for overtime pay. Blauch Brothers, Inc. pays weekly each Thursday.

- Ability to perform basic tasks in a professional office environment, including sitting for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling, and reaching as needed

- Ability to hear and understand speech in person and over the telephone
- Strong verbal communication skills for clear conversations and professional written correspondence
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically
- Frequent field visits may be required to engage with the workforce and observe operations, which may include exposure to active work areas and outdoor conditions
The HR Generalist reports to the Director, Human Resources. This is not a supervisory role.
Selection Requirements- Valid, non-expired state-issued driver's license
