VETS Inc. is seeking a Senior Engineer/Scientist to support U.S. Army C5ISR Research, Technology, and Integration (RTI) efforts focused on modernization, emerging technologies, sensors, data processing, and advanced technology development.
The Senior Engineer/Scientist will provide subject matter expertise in support of Army and Joint Force modernization initiatives, including research into emerging technologies, technical analysis, experimentation, rapid prototyping, and integration of new capabilities. This position will work across government, industry, and Joint Service laboratory stakeholders to help advance next-generation sensing and processing technologies.
Responsibilities- Conduct research and technical assessments of emerging technologies and their potential applications to Army and joint warfighting concepts.
- Support research involving areas such as quantum sensing, radio frequency technologies, advanced optical and hyperspectral imaging, deep sensing, and distributed architectures.
- Provide subject matter expertise in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline supporting C5ISR technologies.
- Support the development of warfighting concepts and Joint Force Initiative program planning.
- Coordinate and integrate technical activities across Joint Service laboratories and research organizations.
- Support Army and Joint experiments, demonstrations, and technical assessments.
- Provide technical expertise supporting the rapid development, prototyping, and integration of new capabilities.
- Apply expertise in software, hardware, algorithms, and/or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) as appropriate.
- Support the development and documentation of tactics, techniques, and procedures for new and emerging C5ISR systems.
- Provide technical analysis and briefings to government leadership, stakeholders, and technical audiences.
- Collaborate with government, military, industry, and research partners to synchronize research and development efforts.
- Support technical meetings, workshops, demonstrations, and other collaboration activities as needed.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, briefings, and other documentation.
- Travel to government and collaboration sites as required.
- Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Materials Science, or a related scientific/engineering discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in applied research or advanced technology development.
- Demonstrated expertise in at least one scientific or engineering domain relevant to C5ISR RTI, such as:
- Electromagnetics
- Machine Learning
- Signal Processing
- Cyber Analytics
- Photonics
- Materials Science
- Power Systems
- Strong technical research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts through written reports, presentations, and briefings.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary technical environments.
- Ph.D. in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
- Experience supporting U.S. Army, DoD, or other government research and development programs.
- Experience with sensors, sensing technologies, data processing, or advanced C5ISR systems.
- Experience with rapid prototyping, experimentation, demonstrations, or technology transition.
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Experience coordinating technical efforts across multiple organizations or Joint Service laboratories.
- Active Top Secret clearance required.
- Some assignments may require SCI access, NATO briefings, or access to classified systems, depending on the specific tasking.
- U.S. citizenship is required for this effort unless otherwise approved by the Government.
- Work may be performed at government facilities and approved meeting locations, including Fort Belvoir, VA and Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, with additional travel to locations such as San Diego, Monterey, Los Angeles, Orlando, and the Washington, DC metro area.
- Travel may be required, with the PWS estimating up to approximately 8 trips per year.
- Telework may be available on a case-by-case basis when mission requirements permit.
