Job Description

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Investigate consumer complaints and identify potential legal violations.
  • Provide expert legal advice to clients on their consumer rights and protections.
  • Draft and file legal documents related to consumer protection cases.
  • Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, settlements, arbitrations, and court proceedings.
  • Research and analyze legal issues related to consumer fraud and deceptive practices.
  • Pursue litigation against companies engaged in unfair business practices.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of consumer protection laws and regulations.
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in legal research tools and software.
  • Strong negotiation and litigation skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly.
  • Detailed-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to advocating consumer rights and interests.

Education and Experience:

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in consumer protection law, including DTPA claims, litigation, and arbitration.
  • Membership in the Texas State Bar Association.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift to 20 pounds at times.
