Job Description
Summary: The Operations Supervisor is an RN, EMT, or paramedic that is team oriented and will be tasked with facilitating daily operations of the ambulance department, including supervision of personnel, policy enforcement, and protocol review. This position requires the ability to exercise independent judgment in meeting numerous and varied emergency situations as well as a working knowledge of existing laws and regulations. The ambulance operations supervisor will be required to respond to ambulance calls and work as a regular crew member in addition to the above responsibilities. Three to five years' EMS experience preferred.
Requirements:
RN, EMT or paramedic license in good standing
MO driver's license
Current BLS
Current ACLS and PALS certifications (EMT-P and RN only)
1 year in current position preferred
ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 (or obtain within 90 days of hire); ICS 300 & 400 (or obtain within 24 months of hire)
Responsibilities:
Manages day-to-day operations on an assigned shift; ensures maintenance of vehicles, delivers and issues supplies to personnel.
Supervises response teams including paramedics and EMTs which involves such duties as instructing and assigning work
Promotes staff engagement by supporting change initiatives in the organization, positive teamwork and commitment
Must be able to perform all duties and skills set forth for an EMT, paramedic or RN
Implements quality assurance programs; attends meetings as directed
Assesses and evaluates situations of emergency and non-emergency response
Maintains clear and concise communication with EMS and hospital personnel utilizing two-way radios and telephone
Performs inspections; prepares reports and logs observations and incidents; documents deviations from standards
Assists in training of new personnel and continuing education of all personnel
Performs and participates in daily shift and safety huddles
Performs a variety of tasks as needed
