Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Product Manager - Special Projects based in Canada.
This is a high-impact product leadership role focused on solving the most important open questions across a fast-growing technology organization. Rather than owning a single established product, you will investigate emerging opportunities, validate ideas, and determine what deserves investment. You will take initiatives from early research through prototypes, strategy, prioritization, and implementation. Depending on the opportunity, you may launch a new product squad, build a lean solution with a small engineering team, or hand a validated initiative to an existing team. The role combines strategic thinking, strong product judgment, technical fluency, and hands-on execution. You will operate in a fully remote, documentation-first environment where autonomy, speed, and written communication are highly valued.
- Own new product opportunities before dedicated teams exist, developing a clear thesis, conducting research, sizing opportunities, and recommending whether to launch, build, hand off, or discontinue an initiative.
- Turn ambiguous problems and research findings into actionable briefs, prototypes, specifications, and prioritized roadmaps that engineering and product teams can execute immediately.
- Use AI-powered tools and agents to efficiently analyze customer feedback, sales conversations, product usage data, competitor activity, and other sources of insight.
- Build and test clickable prototypes quickly, using customer feedback and evidence to validate or challenge product hypotheses.
- Lead smaller initiatives that do not justify a dedicated squad, coordinating engineers and design resources from existing teams through delivery.
- Step in to provide temporary product leadership for an existing squad when required, while maintaining primary ownership of the special-projects portfolio.
- Make evidence-based investment and kill decisions, recognizing that determining what not to build is as valuable as identifying promising opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with designers, engineers, product leaders, and senior stakeholders to align strategy, priorities, and execution.
- Drive product work primarily through clear written communication, including decision memos, project briefs, specifications, and documentation.
- 6+ years of experience building and shipping web applications in a technology environment as a product manager, designer, engineer, or comparable product-focused professional.
- At least 2 years of experience taking new products or initiatives from zero to one, with demonstrated ownership across discovery, validation, and delivery.
- Proven ability to operate independently as the primary owner of ambiguous initiatives that do not yet have dedicated teams or established processes.
- Experience managing a portfolio of opportunities rather than focusing exclusively on a single product, with the resilience to move quickly to the next opportunity when validation disproves an initial hypothesis.
- Strong track record of translating ambiguous opportunities into clear strategies, priorities, roadmaps, and execution-ready specifications.
- Excellent product intuition and design judgment, combined with strong technical fluency and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and designers.
- Exceptional written communication skills, particularly for creating persuasive briefs, decision documents, product specifications, and strategic recommendations.
- Strong analytical and research capabilities, with an ability to use qualitative and quantitative evidence to make product decisions.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving, highly autonomous, documentation-first environment with relatively few meetings.
- Experience as a founder, founding product manager, or first product hire is a strong advantage.
- Competitive base salary ranging from $250,000 to $325,000, plus equity.
- Fully remote work arrangement with the ability to work from anywhere in the Americas.
- 100% covered health benefits for eligible U.S. employees.
- Unlimited paid time off.
- 12–16 weeks of paid parental leave.
- High-autonomy, documentation-first working environment designed to minimize unnecessary meetings.
- Opportunity to influence which new products, initiatives, and teams are developed over time.
- Close collaboration with senior product and company leadership on high-priority strategic opportunities.
- Exposure to AI-powered product research, rapid prototyping, and modern approaches to product discovery and execution.
- Culture focused on flexibility, meaningful work, and strong professional and personal autonomy.
