Position Summary
-
The Breast Surgical Specialist is responsible for diagnosing and treating breast specific conditions, disorders, and diseases through the application of specialist medical skills and knowledge. Based of their findings, they prescribed treatment and medications to attempt to heal any illness or injuries and for disease prevention and management. As dedicated to the Telfair Breast Surgery Center, the breast specialists provide patient centric care that meet the timeliness and multi-disciplinary evidence based guidelines promoted through the Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion as well as the regulatory and accrediting standards through the American College of Surgeons, NAPBC. Additionally, must be engaged in the building of the Breast Health Service line.

Core Job Functions
- Refers patients to specialists if needed. Maintains liaison with other disciplines, such as social services, nutritional speech therapy, physical therapy, pastoral care, and pain management. Implements plan of care.
- Educates patients with regard to their medical condition. Comprehensive review of the patient's medical history is performed and documented. Consults with other medical professional and physicians when needed.
- Define annual targets and review quarterly; improve operational efficiencies and reduce costs; and develop relationships with physicians, community leaders and stakeholders as needed to promote specialty services for appropriate patients. In conjunction with Director, develop an annual needs assessment and staffing matrix to address the specialty services.
