Roll Bender/Machine Operator in TUALATIN, Oregon at Albina Co. Inc.

Key Responsibilities

• Machine Setup: Set up and operate roll bending machines to produce parts to specified radii, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Perform shop math calculations, including radius, diameter, chord, rise, arc length, and bend angles.
  • Identify and select proper tooling for different material shapes, sizes, and bending requirements.
• Blueprint Reading: Interpret engineering drawings, work orders, and CNC programs to hit exact diameters, radii, and tolerances.
• Material Handling: Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and material handling equipment as qualified.
• Bending & Pre-Bending: Execute edge pre-bending and continuous rolling to form uniform shells, tanks, or pipes with minimal flat spots.
• Quality Control: Measure finished parts with tape measures, calipers, and template gauges to verify roundness and surface integrity.
• Secondary Tasks: Perform tack welding, fit-up, or basic equipment maintenance depending on shop requirements.

Common Skills & Requirements

• Technical Knowledge: Understanding of metal properties (carbon steel, stainless steel, alloys), springback, and machine mechanics. Must be able to utilize a calculator to precisely determine geometric dimensions to set up the machine correctly and avoid scrap material.
• Safety & PPE: Strict adherence to shop safety protocols, operating around heavy rotating machinery, and wearing steel-toe boots and eye protection.
• Certifications/Education: Perform basic GMAW (MIG) welding for machine setups as required. Maintain accurate production paperwork and follow established quality and safety procedures.

Drug-Test Required

This is a physically demanding position. Successfully applicant must have the ability to lift 50lbs repeatedly & stand for 4hrs at a time.

Must be able to read, write and speak English to complete paperwork and communicate with co-workers.

Forklift and loading experience highly preferred
