Job Summary:

Owns the full AP lifecycle across a multi entity maritime operation and is responsible for both daily execution and the strategic build out of the AP function. Establish standardized workflows, strengthen internal controls, streamline payment operations, and ensure accuracy, timeliness, and audit readiness.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team that aligns with company values to ensure all are working toward the company's objectives. Hire and train new employees, coach and develop existing employees, monitor performance, manage employee relations and disciplinary issues, delegate tasks, and follow up on completion.
  • Manage the full AP cycle across five operating entities - invoice intake, coding, three-way match approvals, payment runs, vendor relationships, and compliance controls. Implement standards for accuracy, timeliness, and controls.
  • Design and implement AP approval workflows, payment controls, and vendor onboarding in NetSuite.
  • Own key vendor relationships, resolve escalations, and partner with procurement, operations, and treasury on payment timing, terms, and cash discipline.
  • Lead AP automation efforts - including AI-enabled invoice capture, coding, and workflow tooling.
Requirements:

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 7+ years of accounts payable experience, including team leadership or supervisory responsibility or
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to the above

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Deep knowledge of the full AP cycle, three-way match, and internal controls
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP as it touches AP and accruals
  • Experience with ERP AP modules (integrated or modular); comfort operating across multiple entities
  • Strong Excel skills; fluency in standard office tools
  • Exposure to NetSuite (implementation), FloQast, or Datarails
  • Experience with AP automation platforms or workflow tooling
  • Experience running AP through a system conversion or process transformation
  • Multi-entity or shared-services AP background
  • Ability to identify, define, and solve problems, set priorities, and implement solutions effectively with minimal direction or guidance
  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure within deadlines; excellent organizational skills
