ABOUT INTERNSHIP- Powell's hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 9 am - 6 pm ET, but our intern's schedule is Monday-Thursday, 9 am - 6 pm ET.
- All of our interns are paid $20 per hour and will be paid in accordance with the Company's normal payroll practices and will be subject to the usual required federal and state tax withholdings. Interns are considered non-exempt, part-time employees.
- Interns must have a reliable laptop or desktop. Powell will reimburse you a technology stipend in the amount of $100 / month to cover the cost of utilizing your own computer during the course of your internship. This stipend will be paid via payroll as a non-taxable expense reimbursement.
- Keep an eye on media trends that impact our clients and share this intel with account teams and clients
- Monitoring and clipping press coverage
- Drafting PR materials (including pitches, press releases, and briefing materials)
- Managing media lists
- Assisting with research, media outreach efforts and reporter follow-up
- Working collaboratively with the entire Powell Communication team on brainstorms, multi-client pitches and projects, and internal initiatives
- Developing a thorough understanding and knowledge of clients’ business and the competitive landscape
- Researching speaking engagements and drafting pitches for top executives and subject matter experts
- Managing and update editorial calendars
- Monitoring of Muck Rack for relevant client opportunities
- Monitoring industry news outlets for potential trends and opportunities to pitch our clients
- Leveraging social media channels for the promotion of clients
- Contributing to agency social media accounts and content initiatives
CHECK-INS
You will have an intern manager and they will set up weekly meetings with you. This is a time to ask for advice, talk through projects you are working on, or just catch up.
TRAININGSYou will be invited to join all Powell staff meetings & trainings. Some of these trainings will be about specific PR skills, while others are enrichment trainings that are applicable outside of PR.
