Position Summary:

The Hospital Charge Nurse provides clinical and operational leadership for the inpatient hospital unit, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care and continuous RN coverage across a 24/7 schedule. As a working charge nurse, this position both delivers direct patient care and supervises the hospital RN and CNA team. • Provide direct patient care as a working member of the unit, modeling clinical standards and stepping into the RN role as needed.
  • Supervise, schedule, and support the hospital RN and CNA staff, including day-to-day performance, coaching, and coordination of coverage.
  • Serve as the last-resort on-call coverage for unfilled hospital RN shifts, within the unit's defined coverage escalation model and on-call rotation.
  • Ensure staff complete required orientation and competencies in coordination with nurse education, and support onboarding of new unit staff.
  • Act as the regulatory liaison for dietary services, coordinating with the contracted offsite dietician and maintaining day-to-day dietary regulatory compliance and survey readiness for the unit.
  • Monitor and support unit quality, patient safety, infection prevention, and regulatory/accreditation readiness.
  • Coordinate patient care and communication with providers, patients, and families to support safe throughput and discharge.
  • Participate in hiring, interviewing, and selection for unit positions in partnership with HR and the CNO.
  • Escalate clinical, staffing, and operational concerns to the CNO/COO appropriately.
Requirements:
