DUTIES

Thompson Rivers University invites applications for an on-going part-time clinical resource coordinator role in the Respiratory Therapy Program, Allied Health Department, Faculty of Science.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide both instruction (teaching) and instructional support to TRU RT program students and Clinical Site Coordinators (CSC) during the clinical practicum year. Most of this support will be provided via distance, as the candidate will need to support clinical sites throughout all the BC health authorities. Some in-person requirements may be required, such as participating in program operational meetings. These in-person meetings would most likely occur in both Kamloops and the Lower Mainland. The candidate will be expected to provide multiple forms of support, with the overall goal of enhancing the consistency and quality of learning and operational resources for students and clinical faculty. Some examples include maintaining and updating online competency tracking tools, online exam banks, Moodle courses, student and CSC handbooks, orientation resources, standardized exams, and other forms of support as they relate to ongoing program quality assurance and quality improvement.

The department is seeking a faculty member with educator experience who can demonstrate effective teamwork, communication, and organizational skills. Evidence of how the candidate has lead projects will be required, with emphasis placed on self-direction, consensus building, and ability to meet deadlines. Preferences will be given to those who can demonstrate online educator experience and project management involving multiple health authorities or diverse groups.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Baccalaureate degree in relevant discipline
  • RRT credential from an accredited Canadian program
  • Minimum 3 years of recent clinical experience (time as a clinical student will NOT count towards the years)
  • Minimum of one year teaching/educator experience. Experience can occur in a variety of formats but must be more than preceptoring students at a bedside. Examples may include staff educator, clinical site coordinator, simulation educator, or regional or professional practice educator.
  • Proficient at using and managing online learning management tools, Moodle preferred
  • Evidence of effective teamwork and constructive communication skills
  • Evidence of effectively leading projects
  • Additional considerations will be given to candidates with one or more of the following:
