Overview:

The Senior Tactical Instructor serves as a lead instructor for urban tactical training and is responsible for planning and delivering advanced classroom, range, and field instruction to HNP recruits and assigned HNP co-instructors. This position also supports training quality control, instructor mentoring, safety enforcement, and training-event leadership. The Senior Tactical Instructor reports to the Training Manager and supports day-to-day instructional execution, mentoring of assigned instructors, and control of practical training activities across classroom, range, and field environments

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver instruction in urban tactical operations, patrolling, room clearing, MOUT/CQB, vehicle checkpoint procedures, convoy operations, base defense, weapons handling, and related law-enforcement tactical subjects.
• Plan and supervise scenario-based exercises, practical lanes, rehearsals, and demonstrations.
• Mentor junior instructors and HNP co-instructors on lesson delivery, safety, control measures, and training methodology.
• Assist the Training Manager with refinement of lesson plans, instructional materials, training aids, and scenario design.
• Enforce all safety procedures during classroom, range, and field exercises.
• Evaluate student performance and contribute to qualification, remediation, and graduation recommendations.
• Lead after-action reviews and provide performance feedback to students and instructional staff.
• Coordinate with the Range Conducting Officer to ensure safe sequencing of weapons-related events.
• Support integration of human-rights, rule-of-law, ROE, safeguarding, and first-aid considerations into practical tactical instruction.
• Assist with accountability and proper use of weapons, ammunition, training aids, PPE, and other government- or contractor-furnished equipment.
• Conduct daily preparation, setup, and reset of training areas, ranges, equipment, and instructional materials required for assigned events.
• Ensure lesson-plan compliance, student safety, instructor coordination, and written student-performance input throughout assigned training activities.
• Participate in daily instructor debriefs, provide recommendations to improve instructional delivery, and remain available throughout assigned training cycles and scheduled training periods.
• Perform all other duties as assigned, consistent with contract scope, safety requirements, and the qualifications of the position.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• May provide day-to-day oversight of tactical instructors and host-nation co-instructors during assigned modules.
• Responsible for maintaining discipline, control, and safety on training lanes and during practical exercises. Responsible for reinforcing instructional standards, coordinating execution on assigned lanes or modules, and maintaining accountability of students and assigned instructors during training events.

Education and/or Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of military, law-enforcement, or tactical training experience.
• Extensive experience in small-unit tactics, urban operations, firearms, or related operational fields required.
• Experience instructing or mentoring law-enforcement, military, or partner-nation personnel preferred.
• Overseas training experience strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong tactical knowledge and practical teaching ability in urban and high-risk operations.
• Ability to control dynamic training environments and enforce strict safety standards.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally through interpreters or directly with multilingual participants.
• Ability to prepare and execute realistic and progressive practical exercises.
• Strong interpersonal and mentoring skills.
• Ability to work effectively in austere environments and under physically demanding conditions.
• Ability to maintain equipment accountability, support structured instructor debriefs, and provide clear written and verbal feedback on student and instructor performance.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• Valid driver's license required.
• Relevant firearms, instructor, tactical, or law-enforcement certifications strongly preferred.

This position is physically demanding. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, run, kneel, crouch, climb, demonstrate tactical movements, and wear protective equipment. The employee must be able to lift or move training equipment, weapons, and gear weighing up to 50 pounds and work for extended periods in outdoor environments.

Work Environment:

Work is performed on training ranges, in classrooms, and in outdoor field environments. The position involves live-fire ranges, tactical exercises, outdoor weather exposure, uneven terrain, protective equipment, and high operational tempo. The anticipated work schedule is Monday through Saturday, based on the approved training and operational calendar. Daily hours may vary according to classroom, range, field-training, movement, security, and client requirements. The position may require early-morning, evening, Sunday, holiday, extended, or irregular hours with reasonable notice when operationally feasible.
