Position Summary:

Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics; full-time, nine-month, tenure-track appointment with a starting date in August 2027. The appointment is to support the academic programs, scholarship, and service/outreach missions of the college.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The initial nine-month appointment is primarily a teaching position (75%) with an applied research component (25%) focusing on agribusiness.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Teach primarily undergraduate agribusiness courses and some master's level graduate courses.
• Participate in curriculum and course development, recruit and mentor students, supervise student interns, advise student organizations, and provide service through college and university activities.
• Establish relationships with public and private organizations. Opportunities exist for collaboration with crop and livestock producers, agricultural input and credit suppliers, commodity handlers and food manufacturers, agribusiness trade associations, and government agencies.
• Develop applied research and outreach programs in agribusiness. Opportunities for collaboration outside the college exist with faculty in the A-State College of Business, the USDA-ARS Delta Water Management Research Unit, and the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Applicants must have an excellent ability to speak and write the English language, strong interpersonal skills, the potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching, and the ability and desire to interact and collaborate with the agribusiness community.

A-State, the flagship campus of the Arkansas State University System, is in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Jonesboro is the educational, medical, industrial, and agriculture hub of northeast Arkansas. The region features extensive and intensive crop and animal production and is the location of several food manufacturing facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

The A-State College of Agriculture seeks an individual with an earned Ph.D. in agricultural economics, agribusiness, or a closely related field. A.B.D. applicants near degree completion will be considered.
