About This Position
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a talented and driven Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As the Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Executive Chef in managing kitchen operations, mentoring staff, and maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a creative and fast-paced environment in one of New York’s top restaurants.
•Kitchen Leadership: Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and ensure smooth service during meal periods.
•Food Preparation: Supervise and participate in the preparation and plating of dishes to maintain consistency and quality.
•Menu Development: Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop and refine seasonal menus and specials.
•Staff Training: Mentor and train kitchen staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and excellence.
•Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and minimize food waste.
•Quality Control: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as restaurant standards.
•Problem Solving: Quickly and effectively address any kitchen challenges or service issues.
•Creativity: Contribute innovative ideas for recipes, plating, and presentation to enhance the dining experience.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
•3+ years of experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a high-volume, fine dining establishment.
•Culinary degree or equivalent professional training (preferred).
•Strong leadership and organizational skills.
•Expertise in a variety of cooking techniques and cuisines.
•Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
•Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
•Knowledge of kitchen equipment and inventory software.
•Current food handler certification or ability to obtain one promptly.
SALARY RANGE
$28-38 per hour
