About This Position
Boulder County Community Services is seeking to hire a Head Start Teacher. The Head Start Teacher is responsible for creating and implementing a developmentally appropriate, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment for children ages 3–5 years. The teacher works in partnership with families, staff, and community partners to promote children's school readiness by fostering their cognitive, social-emotional, language, and physical development in alignment with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF) and Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS).
This is a full-time, benefited position that will work Monday - Friday 7:45am - 4:15pm. This position will work in Boulder or Lafayette. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt.
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range: $53,988.00 - $65,874.00 Annually

- Plan and implement daily lesson plans that align with the approved curriculum and individual learning goals for children.
- Create a safe, healthy, and engaging learning environment that supports the diverse needs of children and families.
- Conduct ongoing child assessments and maintain accurate documentation using approved tools (e.g., Teaching Strategies GOLD).
- Develop and maintain respectful, responsive relationships with families; participate in home visits and parent-teacher conferences.
- Supervise and support classroom staff (e.g., Teacher Assistants, Classroom Aides, Interns, and volunteers) to ensure high-quality interactions and practices.
- Collaborate with Education, Family, and Health Services staff to ensure integrated services.
- Maintain compliance with HSPPS, CO state licensing requirements, and local health and safety regulations.
- Participate in professional development, reflective supervision, team meetings, and coaching activities.
- Support positive child behavior and use developmentally appropriate guidance techniques.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with coursework equivalent to a major in ECE and at least one year experience teaching preschool-age children or an AA in a field related to Early Childhood Education and coursework equivalent to a major in Early Childhood Education (30 credits), with experience teaching preschool-age children. In addition, candidates with a Child Development Associate (CDA) who are working towards or willing to work towards obtaining an AA in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or in a related field with coursework equivalent to a major in Early Childhood Education (30 credits) within 3 years of hire are also eligible to apply.
BACKGROUND CHECK & FINGERPRINTING:
- A job offer is contingent on passing a background investigation with fingerprinting - All BCHS positions require 4 background checks per CO State Licensing regulations and Head Start
- Performance Standards. The 4 required background checks are: FBI, CBI, TRAILS, and Sex Offender.
Supplemental information:
- Current PDIS Early Childhood Professional Credential 2.0 or 3.0
- Current CPR/First Aid and Medication Administration or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire
- Current MyTeaching Strategies Inner-Rater Reliability for Preschool, including Dual Language Learners and Children with Disabilities or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
- Bilingual English-Spanish
- Head Start experience
- Experience with TS Gold and Creative Curriculum
