POSITION INFORMATION

Position summary:
- The role of the Medical Practices Coding Specialist is to be responsible for reviewing and assisting in completion of ambulatory coding records in the Medical Practice to assure the correct ICD10 codes, CPT and E/M level codes. These codes are used to bill the patient for services and this position will ensure optimum reimbursement for services rendered. In addition, the position extracts data regarding diagnosis, procedures, and the correct physician for accurate reporting. The Coding Specialist assists and participates in quality improvement and review and education for the providers within the practice.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent required. Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology required. Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, E/M level coding and modifier usage required.

Required length and type of experience:- Two years experience working in a medical practices coding environment

Required licensure, certification or registry:- CPC or CCS-P credentials preferred.
