Job Description
Under the general direction of the Payroll and Accounts Payable Manager, the Payroll Specialist ensures accurate processing and recording of company's 2500+ employee payroll. Duties include:
- Process biweekly payroll for 2,500+ employees and physicians
- Review and analyze electronic Kronos timecards for compliance with hospital policies and payrule, federal and state regulations, & wage and hour laws
- Prepare off cycle paychecks for terminations, adjustments, and bonus payments
- Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
- Print, sort, and distribute payroll checks to all associates and upload files to bank for positive pay
- Distribute direct deposit notifications to associates and upload files to bank
- Ensure all payroll deductions including taxes, garnishments, 403B, etc. are funded timely and accurately to third parties, which requires balancing to general ledger
- Assist in Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (W2, W2c, 1099, etc.)
- Communicates with the Human Resources Department to ensure the integrity of the payroll data including data related to new hires, terminations, transfers and rate changes.
- Research and email appropriate audience for all payroll related questions and issues
- Take personal accountability to ensure deadlines are met
- Work is self-reviewed for accuracy and competency
- Assist manager in accounts payable
A minimum of 3 years experience with computerized payroll processing required. Proficient in Excel. Working knowledge of payroll best practices. Must have a strong knowledge of federal and state regulations. KRONOS and Meditech experience preferred. High degree of professionalism, with strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Good basic business background with an understanding of general accounting, payroll, and accounts payable principles required. Must be able to reasonably make appropriate judgement in communications and actions with both internal and external customers. High School diploma or equivalent required.
