The Machine Operator operates assigned machines safely, accurately, and efficiently to cut or form parts to meet production needs. The Operator troubleshoots and performs preventive maintenance on assigned machines.
This is for a vacant position.
Hourly Rate $30.09-$34.33
What you'll do
- Programming (nesting) jobs to be cut on laser: using software to create a program for each part to be cut.
- Checking the parts produced to ensure they meet established quality standards.
- Operating crane for loading material on table; manually loads materials as required.
- Operating laser cutter and press brakes:
- start and shutdown,
- process program (generate program at the machine for press brakes) troubleshooting,
- die set up and change.
- Review the layouts released to collect parts list and deliver to lead hand or to shear operator.
- Perform first level maintenance on machine to ensure it is operating properly, including calibration and daily safety checks on the machine.
- Lead or mentor junior machine operators and assist in training initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Record materials used and hours worked for job tracking as required during working hours.
9. Work collaboratively and safely with colleagues in cross-functional roles and departments for related projects.
10. Other related duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma
AND
CNC Operator Certificate or comparable certification, an asset.
· At least 2 years of experience working with a CNC machine.
· Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and instructions.
· Experience following standard operating procedures and adhering to workplace health and safety procedures.

Work Environment and Conditions
· Working in a manufacturing environment daily
· Ability to complete crane/hoist training.
· Remain alert for extended periods, paying keen attention to detail
· Ability to lift 23 kilograms (50 lbs)
