Protoshop Manager at Active Dynamics – Toronto, Ontario
About This Position
As a world leader in the design and manufacturing industry, Active Dynamics is seeking an eager and enthusiastic experienced Protoshop Manager to join our successful Toronto team! We are looking for a talent with solid professional skills in the manufacturing industry who can provide superb work experience. This posting is for an existing, immediate vacancy.
The purpose of this position is to oversee and manage all Prototyping, Pilot Builds, and CNC operations, with full facility-level responsibility for each area. This role ensures that these functions operate efficiently, safely, and in alignment with organizational goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prototyping:
- Accountable for performance and key metrics of OTD and Quality.
- Scope, plan, schedule, delegate to team and manage jobs.
- Order materials, parts, tools from external vendors and internal departments.
- Support in development of process for assembly & manufacturing, including working with Engineering & Quality to diagnose & validate.
- Coordinate shipments from Sales P/O receipt to CSR S/O generation to documentation with Shipping department.
- Manage Proto Technicians including supervising, training, hiring/firing & Dayforce.
Pilot:
- Responsible for assembly of jigs & fixtures for production parts and development of process.
- Ahere to plan scheduled by PM’s.
- Supervise initial Pilot build as handover to production.
- Incorporate lessons learned from Proto and Pilot, while coordinating with Quality, Engineering & Manufacturing.
- Manage Jig Technicians including supervising, training, hiring/firing & Dayforce.
CNC:
- Supervise work & staff during shift to meet schedule requirements.
- Support ordering materials and tools as required.
- Falicity responsibility for entirety of Proto, Pilot and CNC to ensure area workflows are lean, 5S and efficient.
- Ensures proper training & instruction of employees with respect to expected standards of work performance, quality and job safety.
- Ensures fair treatment of employees consistent with the Employment Standards Act, the Human Rights code, the ADG Collective Agreement and ADG employee relations policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- College diploma or degree from accredited institution.
Qualifications and Experience:
- >10 years in prototyping and supervision.
- Certified tool maker preferred.
- Knowledge & experience of welding.
- Strong team player, communicator and collaborator.
