WPS On-Call Consultant Opportunities Available

Goals and Objectives of the Position:

• Enhance Safety Compliance: Ensure all safety programs and procedures meet federal, state, and local health and safety regulations, with a particular emphasis on Cal/OSHA requirements.

• Develop and Implement Safety Systems: Design and implement effective safety management systems and programs for clients to improve overall safety performance.

• Conduct Training and Assessments: Provide comprehensive training, field coaching, and assessments to enhance safety performance and compliance at client facilities.

• Manage Projects Efficiently: Oversee multiple projects within scope, budget, and schedule expectations, ensuring high-quality deliverables.

• Build Strong Relationships: Foster strong collaborative relationships with clients and Safety Center employees to ensure repeat business and a positive community presence.

Job Summary:

This is an on-call safety consultant position where there are no set hours on a regular basis and the consultant will typically work 40 hours or less per month. The consultant will be contacted and scheduled for work as needed by the Sales Team. Due to the nature of the job, the consultant will be requested to work on a date and time needed by a Safety Center Incorporated client. While we encourage the consultant to accept all such assignments, if there is a reason why they cannot work on a given date or time, the consultant may decline the scheduled work. When declining a scheduled assignment, the consultant may provide alternate dates/times of availability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Provide technical assistance on safety-related compliance projects, safety management system development and implementation, safety oversight, safety auditing, with focus on compliance assurance, safe permitting assessments and process safety management.

• Develop and assess safety programs procedures, plans, permits, and reports.

• Assess regulatory compliance across various safety programs and with emphasis on Cal/OSHA requirements.

• Perform compliance audits and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.

• Design and implement safety management systems and programs for clients.

• Conduct training, field coaching, and assessment for safety performance improvement projects.

• Provide on-site health and safety compliance support at client facilities.

• Manage multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.

• Support Safety Center Project Managers to effectively manage and deliver projects.

• Effectively build client relationships leading to repeat business.

• Build strong collaborative relationships with other Safety Center employees and members of the community.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory duties.

Safety Consultant Level 1 (Intern):

• BS/BA in occupational safety, safety engineering, or related discipline.

• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations.

• Demonstrated ability to provide detailed regulatory interpretation of federal and state OSHA regulations.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, MS Office computer, and analytical skills; experienced in writing comprehensive technical reports.

• Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.

Safety Consultant Level 2:

• BS/BA in occupational safety, safety engineering, or related discipline.

• 1 to 5 years of health and Safety or risk field experience in industrial environments, manufacturing settings, public agency, or high-risk work locations

• Professional registrations/certifications (CIH, ASP/CSP, CHMM, OHST) highly preferred.

• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations.

• Demonstrated ability to provide detailed regulatory interpretation of federal and state OSHA regulations.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, MS Office computer, and analytical skills; experienced in writing comprehensive technical reports.

• Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.

Safety Consultant Level 3:

• BS/BA in occupational safety, safety engineering, or related discipline.

• 5 to 10 years of health and Safety or risk field experience in industrial environments, manufacturing settings, public agency, or high-risk work locations

• Professional registrations/certifications (CIH, ASP/CSP, CHMM, OHST) highly preferred.

• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations.

• Demonstrated ability to provide detailed regulatory interpretation of federal and state OSHA regulations.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, MS Office computer, and analytical skills; experienced in writing comprehensive technical reports.

• Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.

Safety Consultant Level 4:

• BS/BA in occupational safety, safety engineering, or related discipline. Advanced degree preferred.

• 10+ years' of health and Safety or risk field experience in industrial environments, manufacturing settings, public agency, or high-risk work locations

• 10+ years' experience in providing effective training/instruction, and or consulting, preferred.

• Professional registrations/certifications (CIH, ASP/CSP, CHMM, OHST) required.

• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations.

• Demonstrated ability to provide detailed regulatory interpretation of federal and state OSHA regulations.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, MS Office computer, and analytical skills; experienced in writing comprehensive technical reports.

• Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.

Other Skills and Abilities: Travel required. The safety consultant is required to travel throughout their assigned region and is required to have adequate personal transportation, current driver's license, and current auto insurance (100/300) for the travel required for this position.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to noisy.

Requirements of Successful Candidates:

• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to perform essential job functions. Bilingual Spanish skills are a plus but not required.

• Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Occupational Safety, Safety Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

•Minimum of five (5) years of experience in occupational health and safety, risk management, or a related field, preferably within industrial, manufacturing, public agency, or other high-risk environments.

•Minimum of five (5) years of experience in delivering training programs and instructional materials.

•Minimum of five (5) years of experience providing professional consultation services.

• Professional certifications such as Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), OSHA 500/501 Outreach Trainer authorization, Certified Safety Professional (CSP). IVES certification, Certified Train-the-Trainer credential, Defensive Driving Instructor certification, and First Aid/CPR Instructor certification are preferred.

• Working knowledge of federal OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations.
