We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to serve as a strategic business partner to ownership and the leadership team. This role leads all HR functions and oversees the company’s safety function in partnership with operations leadership, with the Safety Coordinator reporting directly to HR.

Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for attracting, developing, and retaining top talent while strengthening accountability, performance, culture, and safety across the organization. This role partners closely with ownership and department leaders and provides leadership oversight of the Safety Coordinator to ensure safety, compliance, and people practices are aligned with company standards and operational realities. This position is full time in office.

This is not an administrative HR role. It is a leadership position with real influence over people, performance, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for field, office, and leadership roles across HVAC, plumbing, and electrical
  • Build and maintain strong candidate pipelines for skilled trades and professional roles
  • Partner with department leaders on workforce planning and staffing strategy
  • Improve time-to-fill, quality of hire, and retention outcomes
  • Strengthen employer branding and recruiting messaging
  • Employee Relations, Culture & Leadership

  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees and leaders
  • Coach managers on performance management, accountability, and difficult conversations
  • Address employee concerns, investigations, and corrective actions consistently and professionally
  • Reinforce R&R’s Core Values: Integrity, Trust, Giving, Positivity, Teamwork, Accountability
  • Support engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and company events
  • Safety Leadership Oversight

  • Provide leadership oversight of the company’s safety program in partnership with the leadership team
  • Directly manage the Safety Coordinator, who reports to HR
  • Ensure safety policies, training, and expectations are aligned with company values and operational needs
  • Collaborate with operations leaders to reinforce a proactive, field-driven safety culture
  • Review safety metrics, incidents, and trends and ensure appropriate follow-up and accountability
  • Support consistent documentation and communication related to safety expectations
  • Performance Management & Development

  • Manage annual reviews, goal setting, and performance improvement plans
  • Ensure clear job descriptions, role expectations, and career pathways
  • Support leadership development and training initiatives
  • Partner with department heads to improve productivity and employee retention
  • Compensation, Benefits & HR Administration

  • Support compensation benchmarking and wage structure reviews
  • Administer benefits programs and open enrollment
  • Ensure accurate onboarding, offboarding, and employee record management
  • Manage HR systems and reporting (ADP experience preferred)
  • Partner with payroll and finance to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Maintain employee handbook, HR policies, and procedures
  • Support consistent documentation practices for employee relations and safety-related matters
  • Reduce organizational risk through proactive policies, training, and accountability
  • HR Strategy & Continuous Improvement

  • Track and report HR and safety-related KPIs (turnover, retention, time-to-fill, training completion, incident trends)
  • Identify and implement scalable HR and safety processes
  • Stay current on labor, safety, and industry best practices
  • Contribute to leadership planning and long-term company strategy
  • Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience (construction, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or skilled trades preferred)
  • Experience supporting hourly field employees and management teams
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR compliance
  • Experience overseeing or partnering with safety programs and safety personnel
  • Ability to coach leaders and influence outcomes across the organization
  • High emotional intelligence and sound professional judgment
  • Strong organizational, communication, and follow-through skills
  • HRIS experience required (ADP preferred)
  • SHRM-CP / SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR preferred
