MAJOR FUNCTIONS
This is a specialized position working for the Bartow Executive Airport Authority. The employee will assist the Executive Director with digital air traffic integration initiatives, coordination with educational partners, oversight of airport museum operations, and support of aviation program development and marketing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following statements describe the principal functions of this job and its scope of responsibility but should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including working in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods, or otherwise to balance the workload.
- Assists the Executive Director in planning and implementing digital air traffic integration initiatives.
- Serves as liaison between Bartow Executive Airport Authority and Polk County Public Schools for the Control Tower Operator School program.
- Supports development, coordination, and promotion of airport-based aviation education programs.
- Assists in marketing and outreach efforts for air traffic and aviation career pathway programs.
- Oversees daily operations, coordination, and public engagement activities for the airport museum.
- Documents airport programs, special projects, events, and operational activities through written reports, photography, and digital records.
- Assists in preparing presentations, correspondence, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinates with airport staff and external partners to support special aviation projects and initiatives.
- Ensures timely completion of assigned projects and supports ongoing program development activities.
- Required to report to work at the appointed hour, as scheduled, and to work the entire assigned schedule.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
- Supports other workers in event of absence.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
This position interacts regularly with educational partners, students, pilots, government officials, and members of the public. Professional communication is required in person, by phone, email, and during public events or presentations.
SUPERVISION
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Requires self-direction, initiative, and independent judgment in the coordination of assigned duties.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS
Education and Experience.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Bachelor’s degree in aviation, public administration, communications, education, or related field preferred.
Experience in aviation programs, education coordination, public relations, museum operations, or project support is preferred.
Licenses.
Minimum requirement: Class E Florida Driver’s License.

Machinery and Equipment
While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be required to operate the following machines and equipment: computers, calculator, telephone, fax machine, copy machine, radios, and other general office equipment in completion of the tasks of this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, smell, and lift up to and including 20 pounds. Will regularly be required to reach with hands and arms. Will frequently be required to stand, walk, use hands to type, write, handle, or feel, talk, or hear. Vision requirements are close, distance, color, peripheral vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet (in-office) to loud (trade shows, outdoor events, and marketing activations). The employee will frequently be required to work in a, climate-controlled office setting using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.
