Job Description
The Counter /Warehouse Associate is responsible for delivering outstanding customer service in a fast-paced automotive and specialty coatings environment. This role focuses on counter sales, assisting walk-in and phone customers, processing orders, paint mixing, and supporting daily store operations. In addition, the position supports warehouse responsibilities including inventory handling, order staging, shipping/receiving, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, organized, dependable, and comfortable working with paint products, coatings equipment, and warehouse materials.
Requirements:Counter Sales & Customer Service
- Provide exceptional customer service to walk-in, phone, and preferred end-user customers
- Process customer orders, answer product inquiries, track order status, and assist with product selection
- Perform counter sales transactions and support inside sales activities
- Maintain accurate customer records, account setup information, and pricing details
- Support the outside sales team with customer service and order-related needs
- Communicate professionally to ensure customer quality and service expectations are consistently met
Paint Mixing & Color Support
- Prepare paint orders using standard and custom formulas
- Mix, tint, shade, and color match automotive and specialty coatings with accuracy and attention to detail
- Maintain Color Room records including tint usage, can usage, inventory transfers, mis-tints, and non-conformance reports
- Clean and maintain paint mixing equipment and work areas
- Properly handle and dispose of paint products and waste materials in compliance with company and governmental regulations
Warehouse & Inventory Operations
- Receive, unload, stock, and organize incoming inventory and warehouse materials
- Prepare, label, stage, and ship customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Reconcile inventory and maintain organized stock levels throughout the store and warehouse
- Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and order pickers when needed
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness, organization, and equipment upkeep daily
- Assist with additional warehouse and store duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1+ year of customer service, counter sales, inside sales, warehouse, or related experience preferred
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required
- Forklift or warehouse equipment experience preferred
- Ability to mix paint and perform color matching preferred
- Must be able to tolerate paint odors and warehouse environments
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk on concrete or hard surfaces for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 55 pounds regularly and up to 75–100 pounds occasionally
- Frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, reaching, climbing ladders, and moving product
- Ability to distinguish color differences accurately
- Ability to wear required safety equipment and follow all safety procedures
