● cashVest®, a platform for liquidity monitoring and forecasting,
● rfpPrep®, a digital tool to streamline banking and investment procurement, and
● muniBank, a banking fee benchmarking solution. Additional tools are currently in development.
Role Summary
We’re seeking a driven sales professional to help grow one of the nation’s fastest-growing public sector fintech firms. As a Business Development Officer (BDO), you’ll be instrumental in expanding our national footprint across Ohio, Illinois, Idaho, and Michigan, building relationships and introducing our solutions to leaders in public sector and higher education finance. You’ll collaborate with a supportive team while owning your sales pipeline—developing new opportunities, strengthening client relationships, and driving platform adoption. This role is ideal for a self-motivated, goal-oriented individual who thrives on helping clients succeed.
This position with report to the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) and will be based out of Rochester, NY office. Travel is expected to be up to 25%.
Responsibilities
As a BDO, you will:
- Lead outreach, discovery calls, product demos, and presentations with C-suite executives at public sector and higher education institutions.
- Build and manage a strong sales pipeline by identifying target markets, analyzing public financial data, and executing strategic follow-ups using our Value Selling methodology.
- Develop trusted relationships through meaningful conversations to uncover client goals and align them with our solutions.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across counties, cities, school districts, and colleges/universities.
- Consistently meet or exceed performance metrics related to prospecting, outreach, and engagement.
- Provide regular updates on sales activity and pipeline progress to company leadership.
- Maintain accurate, timely records of all activities in our CRM system.
- Monitor industry trends to stay informed and add value to client interactions.
- Support contract development and assist in negotiations (with leadership support).
- Manage all aspects of conference participation—from planning and engagement to post-event follow-up—to maximize results.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree plus three (3) – five (5) years’ work experience; Master’s preferred.
- Minimum one (1) – three (3) years of relevant sales experience.
- Familiarity with local government or higher education sectors.
- Demonstrated experience in public finance, treasury management, or administrative operations is a strong advantage.
- Demonstrated success in closing business by aligning solutions to client needs; familiarity with value-based selling methodologies (e.g., Value Selling Framework).
- Proven ability to drive sales results through effective prospecting, territory management, and strategic sales planning.
Additional Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the full Microsoft Office Suite.
- Comfortable using Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Calendar, etc.).
- Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to simplify complex financial concepts for diverse audiences.
- Highly professional and trustworthy, with a commitment to integrity and discretion when handling sensitive client information and proprietary systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Growth-oriented mindset with the ability to accept and act on feedback constructively.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with minimal supervision.
- Eager to learn, results-driven, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
