This position is a seasoned branch position focused on managing member relationships. This includes account opening, maintenance, and support, maximizing the digital experience, facilitating partner referrals, and problem resolution, for consumer and special account types, while providing exceptional member service in the lobby, in the drive-thru, or by telephone. This position also assists with teller transactions, as well as some branch operations. Promoting credit union products and services and identify cross-selling opportunities. Meeting or exceeding sales goals.
As a Member Relationship Consultant I, you will:
- Drive the growth the profitability of the member base through prospecting and acquiring new memberships, as well as retaining and deepening existing relationships.
- Be a trusted consultant for members by actively cross-selling credit union products and services, making recommendations and, if appropriate, referrals to partners including consumer lending, and financial advisors.
- Serve as a consumer and special account opening expert; provide guidance on the account set up and access, as well as education and guidance.
- Act as the primary point of contact and maintain regular communication with members in your Book of Business, to proactively build the relationship, provide follow-up service and look for additional sales and service opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of member services including digital banking, Zelle and other payment services, credit cards, and loans. .
- Manage all sales referrals, and service needs through the proper channels, leveraging resources to track and document service.
- Actively engage with all product and service sales initiatives and lead or assist with campaigns to motivate the team.
- Process wires and provide Notary service, as needed.
- Complete account maintenance including adding and removing joint owners and beneficiaries, Fraud Account Transfers, card orders, address changes, automatic transfers etc.
- Serve as the subject-matter expert for Fraud Account Transfers and Deceased Member Notifications.
- Perform complex history and maintenance research.
- Work with the Business Relationship Consultant to learn to assist with Business Accounts and answer general questions; attend the appropriate training to ensure knowledge and understanding. Shadow on select consultations.
- Process cash and non-cash transactions such as payments, transfers, withdrawals, incoming and outgoing wire transfers.
- Assist with branch cash audits, vault counting, balancing, and the ordering of cash.
- Perform overrides for other team members, within your transacting authority.
- Work with the manager to develop and lead staff training on sales, products, service, campaigns, etc.
- Assist the manager in leading the team towards the attainment branch/department/organizational goals, in addition to their personal/professional goals.
- Keep all credit union member and employee related business in strictest confidence.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of Credit Union Policies and perform duties in compliance with all laws and regulations which apply to position.
- Execute all job functions in a way that is consistent with all requirements of BSA, OFAC and the USA Patriot Act/Customer Identification Act (CIP).

Requirements:- Education equivalent to a four-year high school education or general education degree (GED) required.
- Some post-secondary education preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience with consumer accounts and/or financial consultation, as well as relevant sales and service experience required.
- Professional well-developed interpersonal skills, a professional image, and ability to follow through on commitments are essential.
- Requires sound and accurate judgment and a willingness to make decisions in a timely manner.
- Requires excellent interviewing and interpersonal skills, ability to listen to members’ needs and promote appropriate credit union products and services.
- Internal candidates must demonstrate proficiency with Consumer Account opening and maintenance, with minimal errors.
- Internal candidates must demonstrate proficiency with managing member relationships by consistently meeting or exceeding sales goals and service expectations.
- Internal candidates must demonstrate a strong knowledge regarding credit union products and services, including overdraft and lending options, and be able to clearly explain them.
