Warehouse Sanitation Supervisor at General Trading Co. – Carlstadt, New Jersey

About the Role:

The Warehouse Sanitation Supervisor oversees a team responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and upkeep of the warehouse and surrounding grounds. This includes supervising janitorial operations, managing equipment, handling damaged products, coordinating outdoor maintenance, and overseeing the facility’s rodent control program. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who enforces safety standards and ensures all tasks meet company expectations.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise a team including, but not limited to, assigning tasks, train staff, inspect work areas, evaluate performance and address personnel issues.
• Handle various janitorial duties; operate and maintain cleaning equipment.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are at the appropriate levels.
• Maintain exterior areas, trash removal, snow and ice, and report issues.
• Manage baler and staging of bales.
• Handle pest control/bait stations.
• Enforce safety policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years janitorial/custodial experience in warehouse/industrial setting.
• Supervise a team including, but not limited to, assigning tasks, train staff, inspect work areas, evaluate performance and address personnel issues.
• Leadership, time management, problem solving, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of sanitation standards and safety regulations applicable to warehousing environments.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and work outdoors in all weather.

Preferred Qualifications:

• NJ Pesticide Applicator Certification – a plus but not required.
• Certifications ride on sweeper scrubber, baler, pallet jack and forklift preferred.
• Experience using MS Outlook, Work, and Excel a plus.
