Job Summary:
The Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the overall safety and security of residents, associates, and their guests by ensuring that only authorized individuals enter the campus. Security Guards work hand in hand with the Health Services Team during emergency response situations. Reports to the Security Supervisor.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide quality customer service in all interactions with residents, guests and staff while maintaining the Rules of Engagement.
- Represent the Company through professional demeanor and attitude.
- Promptly and kindly greets all residents, guests and employees at the Gate House and around campus.
- Monitors residents individual Emergency Response System/ Personal Help Button in addition to campus wide surveillance cameras.
- Patrols campus and parking areas in an effort to prevent unauthorized parking, potential thefts, vandalism, and ensuring resident safety.
- Conducts inspections of campus for safety issues such as roads for potholes, lighting outages on interior & exterior areas and other potential hazards.
- Responds to campus emergencies of a medical, criminal, or mechanical nature.
- Conducts resident wellness checks by phone and in-person as needed.
- Provide reports of calls generated by Emergency Call System to Security Supervisor.
- Performs investigation and documentation of incidents including reports of theft, accidents on campus, resident injuries and unauthorized visitors on campus.
- Assists Human Resources department with employee terminations as requested.
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
- Attend departmental education and all required in-service training/education.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident/family and facility information in accordance with HIPPA regulations.
- Respond to all campus fire alarms and assist the fire department in the evacuation of residents when needed.
- Cooperate with staff of other departments when needed.
- Perform any other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior Security experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
- CPR, AED & First Aid Certified eligible.
- Class D security license preferred.

- Self- directed and requires minimal supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Able to work well with others, including staff, supervisor, residents, families, volunteers and the public.
Equipment Skills:
- Knowledge of windows based applications, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Internet, and e-mail.
- Ability to use and interact effectively on the telephone and voice mail on a multi-line phone.
Physical Requirements:
- Required walking, standing, stooping and/or bending for periods of time, climbing ladder or step stool.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended time.
- Ability to climb stairs, reach overhead.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Working Conditions:
- Busy outdoor and indoor environments.
- Exposure to heat and humidity; exposure to cold.
