Job Description

Data Governance Analyst

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Governance Analyst based in Canada.

As a Data Governance Analyst, you will help strengthen data governance capabilities for capital markets clients across critical data management initiatives.
You will work at the intersection of data quality, metadata management, data lineage, and regulatory governance.
The role offers significant hands-on ownership of the Collibra platform, including configuration, workflows, administration, and integrations.
You will partner with business, technology, risk, compliance, data owners, and stewards to turn governance requirements into practical solutions.
Your work will improve data transparency, traceability, quality, and accountability across complex financial data environments.
You will also contribute to governance programs shaped by major financial-services regulations and industry standards.
This is an ideal opportunity for a data professional who combines technical platform expertise with strong financial-services knowledge and client-facing communication skills.

Accountabilities:
  • Support the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of data governance processes covering data quality, data lineage, metadata management, and business glossary development.
  • Define and maintain business glossary terms, data domains, data elements, and associated definitions in collaboration with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Document and maintain end-to-end data lineage across source systems, transformation layers, and consumption platforms to support traceability and regulatory reporting.
  • Design, implement, and monitor data quality rules, scorecards, and dashboards while investigating data-quality issues and coordinating remediation with data owners and stewards.
  • Support data stewardship operating models by defining and maintaining roles, responsibilities, ownership structures, and escalation workflows.
  • Contribute to data governance policies, standards, and procedures aligned with relevant capital-markets regulatory expectations, including BCBS 239, SR 11-7, CCAR, and MiFID II.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Collibra Data Governance Center, including workflow configuration, asset model design, administration, and platform optimization.
  • Build and maintain Collibra workflows supporting glossary approvals, data-quality issue management, lineage certification, and other governance processes.
  • Configure and maintain Collibra Data Quality & Observability integrations, including scanning, profiling, and data-quality rule authoring.
  • Integrate Collibra with source systems and modern metadata platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, and ETL/ELT pipelines to automate technical metadata and lineage capture.
  • Manage Collibra domains, communities, user roles, and permissions while supporting user onboarding, training, and broader platform adoption.
  • Work with platform and technology teams to assess new Collibra capabilities and recommend enhancements to improve governance effectiveness.
  • Engage directly with capital markets stakeholders, including data owners, compliance teams, risk professionals, and technology teams, to gather requirements and translate them into governance solutions.
  • Prepare governance documentation, training materials, progress reports, and presentations for both client and internal leadership audiences.
  • Contribute to consulting engagements through discovery workshops, client presentations, proposals, and other delivery activities as required.
Requirements:
  • 3–6+ years of experience in data governance, data management, data quality, or a closely related discipline, preferably within capital markets or broader financial services.
  • Hands-on, SME-level experience configuring and administering Collibra Data Governance Center, including workflows, asset models, and Data Quality & Observability.
  • Strong understanding of core data governance principles, including data quality frameworks, metadata management, business glossary development, data lineage, and data stewardship.
  • Working knowledge of capital markets data domains such as trade, position, reference/security master, counterparty, and risk data.
  • Understanding of financial-services regulatory requirements and their implications for data governance, with exposure to frameworks such as BCBS 239, CCAR, SR 11-7, or MiFID II.
  • Experience working with data owners, data stewards, custodians, technology teams, and other stakeholders to operationalize governance frameworks.
  • Strong ability to translate complex technical and governance concepts into clear, business-focused language for client stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting information to business, technology, compliance, and leadership audiences.
  • Experience with modern data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or Dataiku and their integration with Collibra for automated metadata and lineage capture is an advantage.
  • Collibra certifications such as Collibra Ranger or Collibra Certified Data Steward/Admin are highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in consulting, professional services, or client-facing enterprise environments is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Finance, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with a structured approach to complex data-management challenges.
Benefits:
  • Opportunity to work on data governance initiatives supporting sophisticated capital markets and financial-services environments.
  • Hands-on exposure to Collibra Data Governance Center, Data Quality & Observability, metadata management, and automated data lineage.
  • Experience working with modern data platforms including Databricks, Snowflake, Dataiku, and enterprise ETL/ELT environments.
  • Exposure to major financial-services regulatory frameworks and enterprise data governance programs.
  • Direct collaboration with business, technology, risk, compliance, and data leadership stakeholders.
  • Opportunity to contribute to consulting engagements, discovery workshops, client presentations, and enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • Professional development through exposure to advanced data governance practices, modern data technologies, and regulatory programs.
  • Collaborative environment that encourages continuous learning, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits according to the applicable employment terms.
  • Opportunities for career development within a global technology and consulting environment.
