Job Description
TRANSPORTATION DISPATCHER/SCHEDULER
Grade: 3 Shift Available: Full-Time (Non-Exempt) (37.5HRS)
Summary of Job Functions:
• Schedules and coordinates transportation routes to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Maintains computerized automated scheduling software “Ecolane” and inputting data into system.
• Communicates with individuals regarding transportation needs.
• Serves as a department resource regarding transportation services, responds to inquiries, and provides accurate information.
• Utilizes two-way radio to communicate instructions to drivers for routine and emergency problems.
• Types letters, reports, memos, and other documents with the department staff.
• Sorts, copies, and/or files correspondence and documents with the department, including outside and interoffice mail.
• Answers telephone and takes messages or transfers calls to proper individuals.
• Greets and assists general public by taking or providing information, receiving payments, or directing them to proper locations.
• Processes required department documents, forms, and reports as required.
• Updates information to the computer database.
• Operates computer, typewriter, adding machine, copier, and other office equipment as needed.
• Maintains department files in an up-to-date manner as required.
• Transports ambulatory and non-ambulatory passengers in County vehicles in a safe, reliable, and timely manner in an emergency situation.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Training and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required. Experience with Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel preferred. Prior experience with scheduling preferred. Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license and a willingness to travel as needed.
