Job Description

Director of Paid Advertising

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Paid Advertising based in United States.

This is a senior player-coach leadership role combining people management, client strategy, channel expertise, and product development. You will lead a team of Strategists while remaining hands-on with complex client accounts and high-priority business challenges. The role owns both the quality of client delivery and the growth, development, and retention of the team. You will shape paid advertising strategy, oversee quality and operational standards, and identify opportunities to expand services across the client portfolio. Working across Sales, Product, Data Intelligence, Account Management, and platform partners, you will help evolve the channel’s offering and capabilities. The position also provides a pathway toward broader executive leadership while keeping you close to the craft and day-to-day impact of the work.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead and manage a pod of Paid Advertising Strategists, taking direct responsibility for hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, development planning, and day-to-day people leadership.
  • Build strong team engagement and retention by fostering psychological safety, positive team sentiment, mentorship, and clear opportunities for professional growth.
  • Manage performance through structured feedback and performance frameworks, providing clear recommendations around raises, promotions, and development needs.
  • Oversee capacity planning and staffing alignment as client portfolios and business priorities evolve.
  • Provide executive-level oversight across client accounts, including hands-on strategic support for complex, high-priority, or strategically important engagements.
  • Act as Account Director for selected single-channel clients and serve as the primary escalation point for channel-related client concerns.
  • Guide channel strategy, performance narratives, internal audits, and quality assurance activities to maintain consistently high standards of client delivery.
  • Own product quality across the pod, identifying and resolving potential errors, overspends, budget inaccuracies, and other issues before they become client-facing or revenue-impacting.
  • Maintain strong MCC and Business Manager hygiene across the client portfolio to reduce access issues, account suspensions, and disapprovals.
  • Partner with Data Intelligence teams to ensure accurate MMT implementation and support ongoing optimization.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of internal technology and operating systems, adapting to evolving processes and contributing to operational excellence.
  • Lead channel-specific innovation through structured experimentation, knowledge sharing, brainstorming, beta testing, and centralized documentation of learnings.
  • Evaluate emerging advertising tools, platforms, and partners and develop business cases for adoption when they can strengthen the channel offering.
  • Collaborate with service leadership and key platform partners to stay current on industry trends, platform developments, and emerging opportunities.
  • Promote practical adoption of AI tools to improve workflows, uncover insights, optimize performance, and increase team efficiency.
  • Ensure consistent use of proprietary technology and internal operating systems, including daily platform adoption, team operating cadences, and diagnostic processes.
  • Develop compelling case studies from successful client work and identify strong examples for broader business and outcome-focused storytelling.
  • Support new business activities through audits, pitches, strategic input, and identification of prospective client opportunities.
  • Identify service expansion opportunities within existing accounts and work with relevant stakeholders to convert them into additional business.
  • Drive pod growth by recruiting, interviewing, and evaluating Paid Advertising talent and building the business case for new hires.
  • Track client retention, churn trends, revenue performance, and team metrics while intervening early when performance or retention risks emerge.
Requirements
  • 7–8 years of digital marketing experience, including at least 5 years in an agency environment.
  • 5+ years of hands-on, expert-level experience in Paid Advertising.
  • 5+ years of experience managing teams, including performance management, coaching, mentoring, and individual development planning.
  • Demonstrated credibility and sound judgment that have earned the trust of experienced channel specialists.
  • Expert understanding of how paid advertising contributes to the broader marketing funnel, customer journey, and overall business strategy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including confidence in direct client-facing and executive-level environments.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, with the ability to provide direct feedback while building productive and supportive relationships.
  • Self-motivated and entrepreneurial mindset, with an interest in building and evolving both a team and a channel product rather than simply maintaining existing processes.
  • Strong work ethic, adaptability, and ability to learn new platforms, technologies, tactics, and processes independently.
  • Advanced proficiency in spoken and written English is required.
  • Strong interest in building a long-term career within a growing organization and contributing to its continued evolution.
Benefits
  • Base salary paid in USD, plus commission opportunities.
  • Unlimited time off available from day one.
  • Fully flexible working environment with options for fully remote, in-office, or hybrid work.
  • Access to office locations in Buenos Aires, Medellín, San Diego, New York, and Atlanta.
  • $50 monthly healthcare stipend to support healthcare or insurance costs.
  • National holidays plus two mental health recharge days each year.
  • Extensive opportunities for career progression and leadership development within a rapidly growing firm.
  • Ongoing personal and professional development programs.
  • Support for employee development initiatives and structured leadership growth.
  • Quarterly awards featuring recognition and prize opportunities for outstanding performance.
  • Opportunities to participate in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
  • Collaborative, people-focused working environment with opportunities to work alongside experienced strategists, analysts, creatives, and technology professionals.
