Job Description
Primary Purpose of Job
Responsible for managing end-to-end operations of ACH, cards, wires and emerging payments to ensure all processes are accurate, timely and compliant with regulatory requirements. This role partners with others across the organization to execute strategy, drive payment related projects and initiatives while balancing risk, operational efficiency, and customer expectations.
Major Job Accountabilities
- Demonstrates effective leadership and development of the team by aligning department goals and objectives with the bank’s strategy. Establishes and approves policies, procedures and standards across the team to meet regulatory requirements, processing timeframes and service levels.
- Keeps abreast of rules and regulations to maintain proficient knowledge and awareness of regulatory developments and Payment Industry trends. Evaluates emerging payment options and optimizes payment workflows and settlement to drive how payment systems will be used to support future goals.
- Primary contact for audits, examinations, and risk assessments. Responds to audit findings, leads resolution efforts, and ensures teams are operating within applicable regulations, policies, and guidelines. Develops and evaluates effectiveness of internal controls through periodic reviews to ensure internal controls are operating as expected.
- Builds strategic partnerships with stakeholders across the organization to execute projects and advises on enterprise projects and payment related initiatives. Identifies and prioritizes internal department projects and process improvement ideas.
- Facilitates teammate development; creates and conducts training and engages the team to promote overall excellence in the workplace. Monitors teammate individual performance and conducts coaching sessions to recognize individual strengths, identify improvements and recommend action plans if necessary.
- Prepares budget workbooks and manages variances. Build out and utilize data analytics and reporting insights to drive strategic business decisions and optimize operational processes. Create and maintain dashboards that summarizes key payments metrics and key performance indicators to support management decisions on an ongoing basis, understand payment-specific trends and manage losses.
- Manage vendor relationships by monitoring performance against service level agreements. Partners with vendors, user groups and technology teams to advocate and influence system enhancements.
- Handles escalated inquiries and/or complaints that require special handling promptly. Analyze complaint data trends to determine the root cause, provide feedback and collaborate with other departments to improve customer experience.
Experience Required
Five (5) years of:
- Relevant payment and operations experience required.
- Managerial/supervisory experience, preferred.
Required Skills or Training
- Detail oriented and deadline driven, with the ability to prioritize, focus, and thrive in a high paced environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong relationship management and ability to navigate the complexities of gaining buy-in, building consensus, and resolving conflicts. Leadership coordination across multi-business unit stakeholders
- Ability to perform complex analysis, conceptualize innovative ideas, interpret applicable laws and regulations and other technical matters, solve complex problems, and make sound decisions.
- Strong understanding of the payments industry and payment operations with demonstrated ability to recommend and implement changes. Knowledge of faster payments and real-time payment methodology preferred.
- Technical and user knowledge of various bank systems/applications is a plus.
- Able to keep sensitive customer and bank information confidential and secure.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Professional Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registration Requirements
- Accredited ACH Professional designation, preferred.
