This role offers the opportunity to serve as a technical expert supporting the growth and adoption of advanced engineered thermoplastic piping solutions.
You will work closely with engineers, contractors, project owners, municipalities, and internal teams to influence designs and deliver optimized solutions.
The position combines engineering expertise, technical consulting, project development, and customer engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
You will play a key role in shaping specifications, solving complex technical challenges, and supporting innovative infrastructure projects.

The Technical Applications Engineer will act as a trusted technical advisor for engineered piping systems, helping customers and partners identify the best solutions while supporting project success from early design stages through implementation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with consulting engineers, municipalities, industrial end users, OEMs, contractors, and project owners to develop long-term project opportunities.
- Engage with projects during conceptual and design phases to influence specifications and promote effective engineered piping solutions.
- Provide technical guidance on HDPE and engineered thermoplastic systems, including material selection, applications, system design, pipe sizing, joining methods, and installation practices.
- Support engineering teams with design recommendations, routing guidance, pressure ratings, fusion methodologies, and technical documentation.
- Develop value-engineered solutions that improve project performance while optimizing installation costs.
- Prepare and review technical submittals, engineering packages, calculations, drawings, and approval documentation.
- Partner with sales teams and internal specialists to provide technical support throughout project development, bidding, and construction phases.
- Conduct technical presentations, training sessions, seminars, and workshops for customers, industry professionals, and internal teams.
- Represent the organization at engineering associations, conferences, and industry events.
- Maintain expertise in HDPE, PP-RCT, PP, PVDF, ECTFE, PFA, double containment systems, fusion technologies, and relevant industry standards.
- Provide troubleshooting support and engineering consultation throughout project execution.
- Collaborate with fabrication teams to develop custom solutions, specialty assemblies, fittings, and engineered components.
- Support product development initiatives, technical documentation improvements, and industry best practices.
- Maintain project pipeline information and support forecasting activities through CRM systems.
The ideal candidate brings a strong engineering background, experience with industrial piping systems, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering or technical experience supporting industrial piping systems, municipal infrastructure, process piping, mechanical systems, or HDPE applications.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain licensure.
- Experience with HDPE piping systems, thermoplastic materials, or engineered piping products preferred.
- Strong understanding of industry standards including ASTM, AWWA, ASME, FM, NSF, PPI, ISO, and related requirements.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Knowledge of fabrication processes, butt fusion, electrofusion, and thermoplastic joining technologies.
- Strong technical writing, presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar engineering software is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a practical approach to engineering challenges.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 40–60% throughout North America.
