Melmark Overview

Melmark is a nonprofit organization providing clinically-sophisticated evidence-based special education, residential, vocational, and therapeutic services for children and adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, developmental and intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries, medical complexities, and other neurological and genetic disorders.

Med Trip Driver/Programmatic Float Overview

The Med Trip Driver/Programmatic Float position is designed to assist across the children’s services department working with the individuals served. The position assists in transporting individuals during medical trips, and maintaining level of supervision during medical trips. The position also supports in ratio when not supporting medical appointments.

Schedule and Salary Information

  • Monday- Friday 7am-3:30pm (some flexibility needed for med trips)
  • Starting Rate: $18.02/hour (+) based on direct relevant experience

Requirements

  • High School diploma required, 50 college credits or more preferred.
  • A valid US Driver’s license, must be able to meet requirements to become an approved Melmark driver, and a minimum age of twenty-one (21) years old.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office.
  • A minimum of one year experience in related field preferred.

Med Trip Driver/Programmatic Float Responsibilities

  • Provides transportation and level of supervision (LOS) for Melmark residents for routine and emergency medical trips. Ensures the timely arrival to appointments and the safety and well-being of residents during transport by adhering to all safety rules and established policies and procedures.
  • Secures necessary documentation for medical trips, including but not limited to: off campus sheets, referrals and insurance information. Obtains necessary money to pay for transportation needs (including parking, gas, etc.) as needed.
  • Obtains necessary documentation for medical reports from the medical trip visits and returns the information to Health Care Services.
  • Communicates with the Health Care Services department, including the respective Health Care Coordinator upon return from the trip. Ensures that the individual and all of their paperwork (particularly the Emergency Medical Packet) are returned to the proper area upon completion of the trip.
  • Assists in ratio by maintaining LOS of assigned Melmark clients across Children’s services when not attending medical trips. Maintains client specific LOS for assigned individual(s) at all times. Ensures proper LOS transfer to a coworker or supervisor when needed.
  • Assists individuals with all activities of daily living including but not limited to, eating, bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, ambulating in accordance to their individual plans.
  • Maintains an appropriate level of functional engagement with individuals at all times.
  • Implements individual plans as written and accurately collects corresponding data including but not limited to: Individual Support Plan (ISP), Behavior Support Plan (BSP), Protocol Summary, and lesson plans.
  • Completes daily documentation in a timely and accurate manner, including sleep data, stool/menstrual data, food logs, body check information, incident reports, behavioral data, etc. as outlined for assigned individual(s).
