Financial Operations Specialist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Financial Operations Specialist based in United States.

This is an opportunity for an early-career finance professional to build expertise across billing, collections, accounts receivable, and financial operations.
You will play an important role in ensuring accurate invoicing, timely payment application, and reliable financial records.
The position combines hands-on financial administration with opportunities to improve processes across the order-to-cash cycle.
You will collaborate closely with Sales, Customer Success, Implementation, Business Systems, and Finance teams to resolve billing questions and improve the customer experience.
The role also provides exposure to month-end close, reconciliations, reporting, audits, and financial systems.
You will be encouraged to use data, technology, and AI-powered tools to improve efficiency and streamline recurring workflows.

Accountabilities
  • Process, review, and reconcile customer invoices to ensure accurate and timely billing and distribution.
  • Identify billing discrepancies and update records to resolve errors efficiently.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and support follow-up activities for overdue balances in collaboration with internal teams and customers.
  • Support collections activities by communicating professionally with customers to resolve payment issues and facilitate timely resolution.
  • Apply customer payments to the appropriate accounts and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Prepare recurring reports covering billing status, collections progress, payments, and other relevant financial metrics.
  • Support month-end close activities by reconciling accounts receivable balances and contributing to financial reporting.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by gathering documentation and responding to audit-related requests.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Success, Implementation, Business Systems, and other stakeholders to resolve customer billing inquiries and maintain a smooth billing experience.
  • Identify opportunities to improve billing, collections, and order-to-cash processes, and contribute to the development and implementation of more efficient procedures.
  • Use financial data, systems, and AI-powered tools to improve operational efficiency, research, and workflow automation where appropriate.
  • Develop sufficient product and domain knowledge to validate information, represent operational changes accurately, and follow through on initiatives from identification through adoption.
  • Help improve cross-functional processes, systems, and tooling while supporting successful implementation and stakeholder adoption.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in accounts receivable, billing, financial operations, or a closely related finance function.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ownership when working with financial data and records.
  • Proactive, analytical approach to identifying problems, validating information, and developing practical solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple requests and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial or business systems; experience with Salesforce, Sage Intacct, or Zuora is a plus.
  • Collaborative mindset and demonstrated willingness to learn new processes, systems, products, and financial concepts.
  • Experience with or exposure to AI-powered tools, whether through coursework or professional use, and an interest in applying AI to improve financial operations.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and follow-through, including the ability to build relevant product and business knowledge, validate assumptions, and communicate accurate information to stakeholders.
  • Experience improving cross-functional processes, systems, or tools and helping drive those improvements through adoption is valued.
  • Ability to adapt communication to different audiences and work effectively with technical, go-to-market, customer-facing, and senior stakeholders.
