Job Title: Registered Nurse - EP Lab

Department: Cardiac Cath Lab

Location: Rochester General Hospital

Hours Per Week: Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Schedule: Day/Evening

MUST HAVE AT LEAST 1–2 YEARS OF DIRECT CARDIAC NURSING EXPERIENCE. Candidates must have prior hands-on experience caring for cardiac patients in a cardiac-focused setting. Qualifying experience includes:

  • Cath Lab
  • Cardiac Stepdown
  • Cardiac ICU (CICU)
  • Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU)
  • Other dedicated cardiac nursing units/settings

Candidates without prior direct cardiac experience will not be considered for this position.

SUMMARY:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you’re the engine and the heart of patient care at Rochester Regional Health. The Cardiac Cath/Electrophysiology Lab performs tests to assess a heart's electrical system or activity and is used to diagnose abnormal heartbeats or arrhythmia. The test is performed by inserting catheters and then wire electrodes, which measure electrical activity, through blood vessels that enter the heart.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides high-quality, patient-centered, clinical care

  • Performs initial and ongoing assessment of the patient, utilizing appropriate data (i.e. physical, psychological, educational and risk-screen data appropriate for the chronological / developmental age of the patient).

  • Communicates and documents assessment of patient with the interdisciplinary team. Utilizes all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and family.

  • Develops and documents plan of care, treatment and services which is individualized and appropriate for the patient needs, strengths, limitations and goals.

  • Complies with organizational policies, procedures and protocols including policies governing safety, medication administration and documentation.

  • Revises plan of care based on ongoing evaluations and updates documentation appropriately.

  • Completes at least one clinical research utilization (CRU) form for submission to Nursing Research Department utilizing a research article from the last 5 years from research performed in the United States.

Compliance

  • Completes a minimum of 5 nationally approved contact hours (CNE or CEU) per year.

  • Completes mandatory in-services and health screens in timely manner.

  • Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing

  • Registered Nurse license in New York State.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

EDUCATION:

  • AS: Nursing (Required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.

PAY RANGE: $39.75 - $52.99

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
