As a Development Manager II on the Advanced Prototype team, you will lead a small team of embedded, GNC, perception, and planning engineers who turn new autonomy ideas into working vehicles. Up to half your time goes to building: writing and reviewing C++ in embedded systems, GNC, or perception. The rest goes to leading: owning the team's plans, milestones, and budget, setting technical standards, and growing the engineers who do the work.
Responsibilities
- Spend up to half your time developing C++ in embedded, GNC, or perception.
- Lead, mentor, and grow embedded, GNC, perception, and planning engineers.
- Direct design, testing, and deployment of prototype autonomy software.
- Review code and designs across the team's domains.
- Plan and coordinate engineering work to meet milestones and budgets.
- Define functional requirements and review solutions for technical soundness.
- Set development standards, tools, and best practices.
- Recruit, onboard, and evaluate team members.
- Partner with product, QA, and operations to deliver reliable systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or related field.
- 5+ years of professional software or computer engineering experience.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams in a management role.
- Strong C++ skills for embedded, real-time, or robotics software.
- Hands-on development experience in embedded systems, GNC, or perception.
- Deep technical background in robotics, vehicle automation, or similar systems.
- Hands-on experience with Agile development and Scrum.
- Ability to guide engineers through complex technical design decisions.
