Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) Engineer III in Mendon, Utah at Autonomous Solutions, Inc

Design, implement, test, and maintain Autonomous Solution's Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) package to meet client needs and advance robotics technologies. VCU software engineers participate in the full life cycle of software and/or hardware development and help determine project architecture and requirements. Design, implement and test the embedded software on-board the vehicle to meet client needs including the vehicle control unit, programmable actuators and the environmental perception software algorithms.

Essential Education, Work Experience, and Job Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related degree. Master's degree preferred
• 3+ years professional experience designing and implementing embedded, real-time software systems using C for embedded processors
• Experience developing device drivers for embedded systems
• Experience with unmanned vehicle systems, software, and/or architectures
• Knowledge of flash programming tools, configuration management systems and software development processes.
• Knowledge and experience in communication protocols implementation (TCP, UDP, serial, CAN)
• Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems
• Experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle–gathering requirements, design, implementation, testing, debugging, and deployment to the end user
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Work with a team of software engineers to add functionality, improve, and upgrade the VCU product applications
• Write understandable C and C++ code
• Software Complexity reduction
• Reduction of defects introduced during manufacture and configuration
• Troubleshooting faults reported by customers and engineers.
• Write unit-level tests and assist in specifying and creating integration tests
