We are seeking an experienced Project Controls Specialist to support a pharmaceutical/life sciences capital program in the Jacksonville, Florida area.
The position will primarily provide cost controls support, while also supporting project scheduling activities as needed. The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of capital project controls and be comfortable working with Project Managers, Engineering, Construction, Finance, Procurement, and other project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide project controls support across a portfolio of capital projects within a pharmaceutical/life sciences environment.
- Support development and maintenance of project budgets, forecasts, commitments, actual costs, accruals, and Estimate at Completion (EAC).
- Monitor project cost performance and identify trends, variances, risks, and potential impacts to the project forecast.
- Support monthly cost reporting, forecasting, cash flow projections, and project financial reviews.
- Reconcile project actuals and commitments with financial and project controls systems.
- Assist Project Managers with cost analysis, change management, contingency tracking, and overall project financial performance.
- Develop and maintain project cost reports and dashboards for project and program leadership.
- Support contractor and vendor cost tracking, including purchase orders, commitments, invoices, and forecast-to-complete.
- Assist with project scheduling activities as required, including schedule development, updates, progress tracking, milestone management, and schedule analysis.
- Review project schedules for alignment with cost forecasts, procurement activities, construction activities, and key project milestones.
- Support integration of cost, schedule, risk, and change information to provide an accurate view of overall project performance.
- Participate in project controls and project review meetings and communicate key cost and schedule information to project stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance, or a related discipline preferred.
- Approximately 5–10 years of project controls, cost controls, or related capital project experience preferred.
- Strong experience in cost controls, including budgeting, forecasting, actuals, commitments, accruals, EAC, cash flow, and variance analysis.
- Working knowledge of project scheduling principles and the ability to support scheduling activities when needed.
- Experience with project controls and financial systems such as SAP, Planisware, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms is preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.
- Experience supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or other highly regulated capital projects strongly preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Finance, and external contractors.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
The ideal candidate is a well-rounded project controls professional with a strong cost controls foundation who can independently support the financial management of capital projects while also having enough scheduling knowledge to provide schedule support when required. Experience working within an active pharmaceutical or life sciences capital program is highly desirable.
