The Play Lead plays a key role in supporting the Play Manager in bringing Purple Dragon’s vision of being the world’s best family club to life. The role helps lead the Play Team, ensuring every member is fully trained, motivated, and delivering play adventures to Club standard, while assisting with the planning and resourcing of the Play Department.

Play is at the heart of what we do, and we take it seriously: it’s how children learn, and there is a genuine educational by-product to the adventures the Play Team creates every day.

• Review the Play Team’s feedback on programming developed by the content creator, working closely with the Play Manager.
• Lead and motivate the Play Team, modeling best practice and holding the team to Club HR policies, cleanliness, and safety standards.
• Conduct regular development meetings with the Play Team throughout the year.
• Conduct shadow sessions and class observations for the Play Team, and lead morning briefings in the Play Manager’s absence.
• Support the Play Manager with the daily operation of the Play Department, delivering structured and free play adventures according to Club guidelines and themed programming.
• Ensure the Play Team has the materials required to deliver signature classes and other Club adventures.
• Assist with inventory audits and the coordination of materials, placing orders for consumables and play materials with the Play Manager’s approval.
• Oversee play experiences throughout the facility, stepping in where appropriate and consistently modeling the Club’s fair play code.
• Maintain toys and resources on the play floor to a five-star Club standard.
• Open or close the Club as required, and lead daily activity sessions where appropriate.
• Cover the Play Team’s holidays, absences, sickness, and breaks.
• Treat every member, guest, employee, and vendor with respect, dignity, and kindness.
• Uphold the values, mission, and standards set forth by NEXUS Club New York.
• Adhere to Club policies and procedures as stated in the employee handbook.
• Perform other job-related duties as required by management or requested by members or guests.
