Position Summary
The Housekeeping Aide performs day-to-day housekeeping services ensuring a clean, attractive facility in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company standards. The Housekeeping Aide reports the Environmental Services Director,
Essential Job Functions
- Carry out all cleaning duties as directed by the Environmental Services Director according to required department policies and procedures.
- Must be able to perform day-to-day housekeeping duties including dusting, vacuuming, disinfecting, polishing emptying wastebaskets, cleaning, replenishing, and mopping.
- Always adhere to infection control policies.
- Always adhere to correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Operates environmental services equipment (e.g. vacuums, floor cleaners, buffers, shampooers, washer, dryer, etc.).
- Performs terminal cleaning procedures of resident rooms and prepares rooms for new admissions, follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms.
- Must maintain good interpersonal relationships with facility staff, healthcare professionals, and vendors to provide the best level of care for residents.
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of patients.
- Must demonstrate dependable, regular attendance.
- Must be able to concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment.
- Must be able to communicate and function productively in an interdisciplinary team.
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds floor to waist, lift 35 pounds waist to shoulder, lift and carry 35 pounds, push/pull 35 pounds.
- Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
- Possible exposure to hazardous chemicals
- Possible exposure to electrical hazards and machine guarding
- Works in the department and throughout the facility.
- Subject to frequent interruptions.
- Involved with patients, employees, vendors, government agencies/personnel.
- Subject to falls, burns from equipment, odors.
- Possible exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and other conditions.
Specific Requirements
- Must be knowledgeable of housekeeping practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing housekeeping functions in the post-acute care facility.
- Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the housekeeping department.
- Must perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to general housekeeping responsibilities, patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
- Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Education and Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Prior health-care experience preferred.
- Prior housekeeping experience preferred.
