Position Summary

Essential Job Functions

• Carry out all cleaning duties as directed by the Environmental Services Director according to required department policies and procedures.
• Must be able to perform day-to-day housekeeping duties including dusting, vacuuming, disinfecting, polishing emptying wastebaskets, cleaning, replenishing, and mopping.
• Always adhere to infection control policies.
• Always adhere to correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
• Operates environmental services equipment (e.g. vacuums, floor cleaners, buffers, shampooers, washer, dryer, etc.).
• Performs terminal cleaning procedures of resident rooms and prepares rooms for new admissions, follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms.
• Must maintain good interpersonal relationships with facility staff, healthcare professionals, and vendors to provide the best level of care for residents.
• Must be able to assist in the evacuation of patients.
• Must demonstrate dependable, regular attendance.
• Must be able to concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment.
• Must be able to communicate and function productively in an interdisciplinary team.
• Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must be able to lift 35 pounds floor to waist, lift 35 pounds waist to shoulder, lift and carry 35 pounds, push/pull 35 pounds.
• Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

• Works in the department and throughout the facility.

• Involved with patients, employees, vendors, government agencies/personnel.

Specific Requirements

• Must be knowledgeable of housekeeping practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing housekeeping functions in the post-acute care facility.
• Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the housekeeping department.
• Must perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to general housekeeping responsibilities, patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
• Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

Education and Experience

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Prior health-care experience preferred.
• Prior housekeeping experience preferred.
