Job Description:
Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Behavioral Health, the site Mental Health Director is responsible for the administration, management, and delivery of mental health services within a correctional environment that meets NCCHC/ACA standards.
Salary:
$110,000–$130,000, based on experience.
Schedule:
Full-time, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, with occasional evening and weekend coverage if needed. On-call responsibilities are required.
Location:
The Mental Health Director will oversee both the Suffolk County House of Correction (South Bay Jail) and Nashua Street Jail.
Requirements:RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinate provision and documentation of mental health services at assigned facility[s] to ensure the identification, assessment and treatment is provided in accordance with policies and standards of Mental Health Management.
• Provide professional and administrative support to psychiatrists of assigned facility.
• Maintain open communication with facility Superintendent, Deputies and county management staff to facilitate mental health delivery systems, resolution of problem situations and communication of clinical issues relevant to the safety of the inmates, other county staff and the facility.
• Provide monthly documentation of facility mental health services.
• Provide clinical supervision.
• Coordinate facility mental health Continuous Quality Improvement [CQI] and Quality Assurance [QA] Programs.
• Participate in recruitment, interviewing and selection of mental health staff.
• Conduct daily mental health staff triage meetings.
• Coordinate on-call system, ensuring 24-hour a day mental health consultation availability for medical staff, correctional staff and non-custodial staff.
• Ensure that constant observation watches are covered on weekends and holidays.
• Coordinate training for correctional and medical staff on mental health issues as requested by facility and/or Associate Mental Health Director.
• Coordinate Student Internship Program for facility.
• Provide direct clinical services as outlined in the Mental Health Professional Job Description.
• Approve clinical decisions regarding the closing of open mental health cases.
• Review and approve the treatment plans of all open mental health cases. Provide differential diagnostic impressions and treatment planning recommendations and strategies when needed.
• It is an essential part of the job that CPS can ask the employee to work beyond his/her regularly scheduled hours.
• Follows all security rules and regulations. • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
• Master's Degree in from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, counseling psychology or related field.
• Candidates must hold an LICSW or LMHC license in Massachusetts.
• Professional experience providing group and individual mental health counseling, diagnosis and treatment of major mental disorders, crisis intervention and/or psychological evaluation techniques [when applicable].
