Full Time

Monday - Friday

7:00a - 3:30p

The RN will have a dedicated position responsible for providing direct patient care within the team. This position will deliver skilled clinical care to imaging and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation patients by monitoring, planning, and evaluating individualized care, ensuring a patient centered focus. This position requires excellent communication and ability to work closely with the radiologist, hospitalist, and other healthcare personnel.

Requirements:

Knowledge & Experience

Skills-

  • Ability to give and follow instructions accurately
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to interact with patients, family members, and health care personnel
  • Effective time management and multiple task assignment

Knowledge-

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Competence in the use of information technology; Cerner experience preferred
  • Be cognizant of and follow all Radiation Safety Guidelines

Education-

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing or Nursing Program
  • Current registration with the State of Indiana Health Professions Bureau
  • Previous cardiac monitoring experience is preferred

Experience-

  • Minimum of three years post-registration nursing experience (full-time or equivalent hours part-time) in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • Nursing experience in an Imaging environment is preferred.

  • Extensive exposure to confidential information
  • Frequent contact with various persons or groups within and outside of the hospital including employees, department managers, providers, patients, volunteers, visitors, and outside personnel.

ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Be responsible for the safe administration, custody, and documentation of medications
  • Ensure that controlled drug records are maintained in accordance with standard recognized legal and professional practice
  • Ensure safe practice in the storage and administration of all medications in accordance with hospital policy, keeping patient and staff safety a priority
  • Observe and comply with hospital policies-and-procedures and all health and safety regulation
  • Respect patient confidentiality and ensure that the dignity of the patient is maintained at all times
  • Keep accurate, comprehensive, updated records
  • Document and report, in a timely and comprehensive manner, any incidents, accidents, near misses or complaints and participate in any subsequent investigation
  • Reports to the Director of Imaging

QUALITY ASSURANCE-KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Be responsible and promote the delivery of a high standard of care to all patients
  2. Be aware of the multifaceted needs of patients and provide a holistic support service for them and their families
  3. Provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, guidelines, and scope of nursing practice framework
  4. Contribute as a key member of the multidisciplinary team in the provision of holistic care of patients, acting with professionalism at all times
  5. Assist in the setting of standards, development of new policies and procedures, and contribute to the provision of quality care to patients
  6. Work closely with radiologist, hospitalist, imaging technologists, and administration
  7. Communicate with patients and families in a courteous, supportive manner, being conscious of the stress illness can cause them
  8. Adhere to nursing policies on documentation of nursing care in the patient electronic information system
  9. Ensure good relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team in the hospital
  10. Supervise the nursing practice of less experienced staff members and participate in the educational aspects of that practice
  11. Ensure correct and economical use of department supplies and the safe and correct use of all equipment
  12. Document all necessary care given in the Hospital Information System (HIS).
  13. Assist with physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
  14. Administer and assists with patient treatments as ordered and/or performed by members of the healthcare team.
  15. Demonstrates efforts to maintain patient confidentiality as appropriate and per policy; follows HIPAA policies and procedures appropriately
  16. Demonstrates ability to initiate peripheral intravenous therapy access for patients within 2 attempts; demonstrates ability to request assistance with patient IV access as needed
  17. Performs other duties as assigned.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

  • Maintains effective channels of communication with other employees and patients
  • Takes appropriate action in problem situations to offset adverse effects
  • Projects a professional and positive attitude regarding the hospital

LEADERSHIP

  1. Take responsibility for navigating the care of patients in the department including but not limited to the CT Lung Screening Program, Diagnostic Mammography Program, Cardiac Rehab, Pulmonary Rehab, Stress Cardiac Program including Stress Echocardiograms, Cardiolite exams, and plain stress cardiac exams
  2. Assist in the Supervision and delegation of patient care as appropriate

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend all mandatory in services and educational offerings
  • Participate in staff meetings and committees as required
  • Be willing to be deployed to other areas of the hospital if requested to do so
  • Observes hospital dress guidelines and wears ID badge
  • Provides proper notification for absence and tardiness and is punctual for start of scheduled work time
  • Maintains equipment assigned to department and reports malfunctions appropriately
  • Participates in emergency procedures, fire drills, evacuation procedures and internal/external disaster plans and procedures in accordance with departmental responsibilities
  • Any other duties as assigned.

CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

  • Take personal responsibility for own professional development and keep up to date with evidence based practice and research.
  • Attend and participate in staff development programs
  • Read current literature and keep abreast of new developments in imaging procedures involving nursing; actively engage in professional development
  • Share new professional knowledge gained with other staff members
  • Participate in the development of new ideas for the improvement of patient care
  • Maintain and update a personal development plan
