The Spirit of the Position

Position Summary

The Control Room Attendant serves as a primary point of contact for customers and operational staff, responding to calls, service requests, and inquiries while supporting daily parking and shuttle operations at Edmonton Airport. This role monitors operational activities, communicates with field teams, and helps ensure a safe, efficient, and positive customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming calls and respond to customer inquiries, service requests, and concerns in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Monitor operational systems and communication channels to support day-to-day operations.
  • Document customer concerns, incidents, and service disruptions, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate logs, records, and reports related to operational activities.
  • Support emergency response procedures by following established protocols and communicating with appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure important operational information is accurately documented and communicated between shifts.
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer and operational information.
  • Provide general administrative support related to control room operations.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 13 years of customer service, call center, dispatch, operations, or related experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
  • Proficiency in French is considered a significant asset; additional languages are an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and handle inquiries professionally.
  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to learn and use multiple software systems, communication tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accurate data entry abilities.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Consistently follows company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Customer Service Focus: Delivers professional, responsive, and courteous service while maintaining a positive customer experience.
  • Written and Verbal Communication: Demonstrates strong English communication skills, including the ability to clearly and accurately document information, incidents, customer interactions, and operational updates.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy in data entry, recordkeeping, reporting, and communication.
  • Problem Solving: Assesses situations quickly and takes appropriate action or escalates concerns when necessary.
  • Multitasking: Effectively manages multiple calls, tasks, and systems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Teamwork: Works collaboratively with customers, coworkers, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Integrity: Maintains confidentiality and consistently follows company policies and procedures.
  • Computer Proficiency: Confidently uses multiple software applications, communication platforms, and computer systems to support daily operations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to continuously use computers, monitoring systems, radios, and telephones throughout the shift.
  • Ability to maintain focus and situational awareness while monitoring multiple systems simultaneously.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
