Job Description
The Trailer Management Specialist is responsible for the daily oversight and coordination of trailer assets supporting brokerage operations. This position serves as a critical link between carriers, customers, and internal teams by managing trailer pools, monitoring equipment utilization, ensuring timely trailer returns, supporting shipment visibility efforts, and coordinating assessorial tracking. The role helps drive service excellence, asset efficiency, and customer satisfaction by maintaining accurate trailer data and proactively resolving equipment-related issues throughout the shipment lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Optimize the trailer network to support Highway Services growth and customer requirements.
- Proactive and diligent execution of on-time tracking and tracing for all shipments in transit.
- Recommend trailer reallocation, pool resizing, or network redesign to improve asset productivity.
- Monitor trailer locations and status throughout the transportation lifecycle.
- Proactively coordinate trailer recoveries and on-time returns for power-only shipments.
- Continuous maintenance of internal and external platforms with updated shipment details as required.
- Communicate with drivers and carriers load requirements and details to ensure a successful lifecycle from dispatch to delivery with little to no issues.
- Maintain accurate trailer records and updates within transportation management systems and supporting spreadsheets.
- Coordinate with equipment providers, leasing companies, carriers, and vendors regarding trailer movements and recoveries.
- Responsible for trailer pool management between all drop trailer requirements at each shipper
- Assist with management of trailer repair notifications, red-tag equipment, and maintenance exceptions.
- Field any and all inquiries from customers and/or carriers regarding the status of a specific shipment.
- Track, monitor, and support documentation of trailer-related assessorial charges.
- Coordinate with operations, carrier sales, and customer service teams to ensure assessorial approvals and billing requirements are completed accurately and timely.
- Monitor trailer dwell times and identify opportunities to improve trailer turns and asset productivity.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Disseminate relevant and accurate tracking updates to internal team members.
- Continuous maintenance of internal and external platforms with updated shipment details as required.
- Communicate with drivers and carriers load requirements and details to ensure a successful lifecycle from dispatch to delivery with little to no issues.
- Field any and all inquiries from customers and/or carriers regarding the status of a specific shipment.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain, or related field required. 1 year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of education required.
- 2+ years’ logistics industry experience required.

The posted range reflects the full pay band for the position. The expected pay range below represents where most candidates are hired, based on experience, skills, and internal equity. Candidates with more extensive or highly relevant experience may be considered toward the higher end of the overall pay band.
- Expected Pay Range: $19.23-$21.75
- Full Pay Range: $19.23-$29.87
- Pay Grade: 6
