Description:

The Activities Manager directly oversees the Activities team and programming as well as provides logistical support for Apiary, Farm, Orchard, Wellness, and Culinary programs offered at Southall. Southall Staff aim to provide a 5-star level experience in all aspects of their interactions with guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for staff development, operations and day-to-day management of Activities services to Southall guests and the community. Provide logistical & administrative support for other program departments
  • Adapt the offerings based on successes, interest and trends, analyzing performance data; update and maintain public descriptions (website, WAY, locals-only Instagram,etc.)
  • Post activity related charges to PMS; distributing end-of-day and Sales reports to relevant teams
  • Ensure we are meeting all government/required standards for all activities; staying up-to-date on permits, inspections, etc.
  • Manage supplies & equipment used in activities
  • Work with events team to schedule & execute programming for groups
  • Hire, train, and provide operational support of Activities Program Guides and coordinators
  • Build relationships with third-party vendors to ensure seamless collaboration and execution of resort programming; also develop opportunities for employee enrichment
  • Coordinate with Property Management on development of physical activity areas
  • Coordinate with Retail Manager for kiosk sales, activities equipment, etc.
  • Support Wellness programming when needed, ensuring those offerings fit into the larger calendar of events
  • Quarterly and Annual forecasting, budgeting, and planning
  • Work with HR to project seasonal staffing needs and participate in hiring and managing staff
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience in educational, experiential, and/or adventure tours
  • 2+ years leading/managing teams and staff
  • Some culinary and farming/gardening experience
  • Team oriented spirit. Enthusiasm for sustainability, natural world, culinary and visual arts.
  • Great communication, internally and public speaking
  • Excellent verbal and written communications, giving/receiving direction, and presentation of plans/results;
  • Excellent planning, organizational and resource management/allocation skills – with attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage and complete tasks;
  • Working knowledge and reasonable capabilities in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent team skills, including but not limited to; listening, coaching, guiding, flexible working, adaptability, collaboration, and facilitation
  • Excellent communication skills, including but not limited to; listening, asking questions, building consensus, presenting, obtaining buy-in
  • CPR/AED & First Aid certification within 30 days of starting employment.
  • Must be able to push, pull and lift 50 lbs.
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Available to work weekends, evenings and/or holidays
  • Must be able to walk and stand for prolonged periods as needed and able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Experience developing farm-based activities
  • Knowledgeable of regenerative farming practices
  • Understanding of local food systems and food access
  • Resort and destination and/or customer service experience
  • BA/BS preferred
